Gear is just a mishmash of what I’ve found so far. Not too sure what I think about the build just yet, since its my first character. Been feeling lately that it seems very squishy though.
The devotion part of the game seems a bit hard to figure out too.
Dunno if I wanna continue with this character or try another one. I usually play casters in these games, but maybe try a melee next. Preferably something that works greatish with shitty gear, so I can use him to farm gear. I prefer dw or s&b.
Btw, I have read up on a fair numbers of posts before posting. Still feel a bit clueless though
As a first char if you are playing self found I would recommend caster, dot DEE witch hunter or BWC sorcerer would be best choices imho. If you want melee s&b take soldier and you can add to it w/e you like, it will work. Occultist, nightblade and demolitionist are best to pair with soldier s&b.
Hmm, ok. For the BWC Sorcerer I could use your guide as a guideline I guess. As for the WH build, wouldn’t that be much of the same as I’m playing now? What would differ from what I’m playing now, and do you have a recommended guide or something? Mainly looking for tips with devotions I guess.
As for the soldier class, I can just start as a soldier, and then add something else as I play when I make up my mind I guess. Any good guide for one there?
Warlock is better for a basic Dreeg’s Evil Eye spam (because he gets a lot of cast speed and mana) doing mostly acid and vitality dmg, while Nightblade uses transmuted DEE and Nidalia’s Justifiable Ends to spread poison around.
Nightblade adds a lot more damage because of extra resistance reduction and another powerful poison damage skill (highest in the game for single targets). Arcanist makes your life easier because he never has any mana problems and has a naturally high Offensive Ability, but it’s weaker overall. WH can still be built as a spammer, but you need a lot of mana regen from items.
As for Soldier shield builds, you can’t really go wrong. Pick a secondary mastery you like and get all the passives. You generally want Occultist 32 or Demo 32, they have a lot of useful skills. Shaman 25 or even 40 works too, I guess, but it lacks an Offensive Ability passive and is better as a Savagery build. Arcanist 25 works but has lower damage than most builds. Some like Nightblade with a bunch of attribute points in cunning, I wouldn’t recommend it.
Did you already take Arcanist for Second? Your GrimCalc shows that. Arcanist and Occultist don’t really mix outside of a couple very specific, usually very gear heavy, builds.
As for the Occ side…You’re doing fine. Max out Evil Eye, max Frailty, and you’ll be good for most everything. If you find yourself having energy issues, consider grabbing Focused Gaze. It might also be worth speccing into temporarily for boss fights.
You’ll want Possession eventually, and I’m not sure that Hellhound is going to be doing much of anything for you. When you run Dreeg’s Evil Eye, usually you just drop Curse of Frailty, and then DEE…No other damage sources needed, really. Just buffs to your DEE Damage.
For devotions, I suspect you’ll want to work your way to Abomination.
Keep in mind, everything we say here is just our opinions. Do as you please…If you fail, try again. It’s a solo game…If you die 80 times in Normal and delete the character, nobody will know but you. Testing is half the fun, and who knows, you might find something great we’ve missed.
Ty for input, yeah, I had already chosen arcanist as 2nd for my occultist. Used some of his gear and tried a demo, going for that BWC build… Its like a different world from what I had before. I did learn quite a bit from that first try, so that might account for some of the difference. But seriously, that Demo just burns stuff, quite neat, lol.
I finally figured out that a lot of great skills comes from items too…
Basically what GC told you about difference between WH and Warlock, WH is much better
Even I wouldn’t put bunch of points in cunning when going shield build
And again, for the record, there is not much difference between WB, commando and BM when they are going with shield
