Right now I’m level 24 with Maxed Devouring Plague and wendigo totem. One in Briarthorn and ground slam, and one in Mogdrogens pact and heart of the wild.
On the Occultist side I have 4 in curse of frailty and 1 in vulnerability, along with 3 in bloody pox.
I’m not sure where to go from here, nothing is giving me issues but i’m still wearing a vit weapon from level 10.
It’s hard for me to figure out how to build this guy since this is my first character. Any guidance would be appreciated.
I’ll look into it, I think I was trying to go a different way but with devouring swarm as my main damage dealer its starting to feel a bit underwhelming
Devouring Swarm is phenomenal, stick with it. The vines pair really well with it, by locking things down somewhat. Some points in the Curse modifier (vulnerability) will further reduce vitality resistance. Once you get some gear with vitality and bleed damage, and pick up some devotions (especially huntress, but I am a fan of falcon as well) you will see those really start to shine.
One thing:
Maxed Grasping Vines (for the max radius) combined with ‘Rend’ from the ‘Huntress’ constellation. DoT’s have a change of proccing a devotion skill every tick. Combine that with the large AoE of Grasping Vines and Rend procs all over the place. Giving a nice bleed DoT, nice AoE (5m) and -50% bleeding resist.
Combine it with Devouring Swarm for -50% bleeding resist, and Curse of Frailty for -50% bleeding resist. (numbers are for maxed skills).
This gives a whopping -150% bleeding resist. This means even mobs with 100% bleeding resist will get reduced to -50%.
Currently I am testing this build, I am only lvl 32 at the moment but it is already really powerfull. Both for AoE and single target.
P.S. Now I only need to find a good item proc which can proc of Rend for even more powning.
That’s a pretty cool idea. I’m just putting this out there though: Results in normal or elite difficulty have very little bearing on results in ultimate difficulty. If something is going to be deemed viable, it needs to work on ultimate. It is entirely possible to faceroll through elite and get your ass handed to you in ultimate.
Yeah I know, that is way I was sort of hesitant to post the idea. I still need to find out if it is viable in ultimate. But looking at the huge resistance reduction you can pull off I asume it will be alright.
going for a similar build on my conjurer
I am currently adding solaels and sigil making it more vitality+ chaos instead of just vitality
regarding devotions I’ve not decided myself have looked for some vitality ones but maybe more durability is also needed if facetanking with wendigo isn’t gonna be viable later on
You could read the guides posted in this section. There are at least two quite popular and powerful Conjurer build’s going out there and quite different from each other.
The first one is the pet build, doesn’t require much involvement from the player side as the pets do the killing: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24703
The second one is the Vitality caster build, focusing on totems and Sigil, here you have lots of skills to use and are casting all the time, so lots of player involvement required, but very strong and fun build nevertheless: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31945
I have similar build to the second one, except I’ve been focusing more on the dots, so I’m using more Devouring Swarm and Bloody Pox+Wasting. Strong build either way.
Thanks CoolcolJ that was exactly what I was looking for was the 2nd of ziggyd’s builds. Currenlty level 30 with 12 points sitting around, now I know what to do with them!
Thank you! I’ll look into both of these. I just made it to homestead on my first conjurer and I’m thinking about building some new characters now that I know what i’m doing a little more. Man this game is the bees knees. Haven’t had this much fun since I was in middle school playing diablo 2 ( 13 years ago lol >_> )
Glad you are getting the hang of it. The dual masteries gives a ton of flexibility to come up with different things. Look for synergies between them that let you focus on and be effective with one or two damage types and get some survivability and you should be in good shape.
