Help with this poor Warder?

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/p25KmylZ

Don’t let the helm make you think this guy can kill Ravager. Well I mean it sort of can but it’s just because of a cheese I found.

The gear is the gear I have. This is my first character and I don’t have the option to use a nice set.

Main damage source is forcewave, with some extra phys damage from cadence.

Concerns:

  • Low health. It doesn’t feel overly squishy, mostly due to all the healing and circuit breakers, but it’s by no means a tank.

  • Only slightly overcapped resists. I am dreading running into Grava, and it will start happening from the next mission.

  • Relatively low damage. It takes a while to kill anything tanky, like a nemesis. Listed DPS is 43k but due to the low OA even that isn’t applied well.

Any advice on improving him? At this point this mostly means switching around attributes, skills, components, augments and devotions; I’d love to eventually equip the Octavius or Markovian sets but I only have one piece of each as of yet.

Anyone, any tips?

Post your opinion in a separate thread next time.

Created dedicated thread

Thank you! And thank you Chthon!

FWIW that thread looked like it was a general purpose build clinic. Granted I haven’t read all 12 pages of it, but I now see I screwed up.

Chthon, I really appreciate you taking the time to patch this guy up. Really nice OA number there. Can you help me understand the idea behind the changes? Most importantly, if I’m not doing Forcewave at all… what am I doing? Just wailing on them with the mace, and using Blitz as my only source of AOE? (Surely Whirling Blades won’t contribute much damage?)

This guy isn’t tanky enough to not have to kite Kupa or Gargabol. (Or even Moosilauke.) The way I beat these guys is by kiting & putting IT dots on them with FW. What is the new plan?

But if FW is out, I can get a better weapon and maybe better gear from the stash - I won’t need all that IT bonus after all.

Grava and Kuba will be a bit beyond your reach till you get better items but the basic changes include

  • Getting Ghoul - Attack Damage Converted to Health (Life Steal)
  • Getting Oleron - A strong offensive devotion known for the proc Blind Fury
  • Getting Crab - A defensive devotion with the proc known as Arcane Barrier

Left Mouse Button = Cadence

Cadence is you main damage source now, you lack the items for Forcewave. Cadence is much more newbie friendly.

Blitz is again there mainly for Blindside’s DA shred.

The devotion is meant to get you started, in the end you might have have to respec again.

For now stick to farming

Forsaken Wastes/Obsidian Throne Rift
Bastion of Chaos
Steps of Torment

These three places will get you most of the gear you need

Bbbb…but two of those places are DARK and spawn Grava. monkaS

(Or maybe not? He might be in AoM only.)

Thanks again. I will try it out, even though I just finished the Grove on Ultimate for the first time and walked away with my 2nd Octavius piece.

For the attack procs, Ghoul on Cadence and Mark on Blitz? Blind Fury would then have to go to Zolhan’s or Markovian’s.

I probably have a better weapon, and it’s probably not a mace, so I guess I can lose the Scepter constellation? Getting Lion as the Oleron prereq instead lets me complete Oleron and leaves me with 2 points (and about 50 DA less). Do i get health from Scales & Crossroads? Or try to make up the DA somewhere?
