Is there any thoughts on adding a “ranch house” to housing? It would be placed near the cow barn and goat barn and chicken pens and instead of a desirability penalty it would be a positive desirability. A home for the herders and makes it more realistic.
Under existing conditions perhaps a temporary shelter? It would allow the herds to be placed further away from your primary housing. I’ll do this in my current game.
Yeah I do that too. I also build all my animal pens on the same area and put up a fence around all of it, creating a big “ranch” so to speak…
You know you can overlap grazing areas. Reduces the overall size of the field/s. I often use a 25 x 25 field with horses, cows and goats inside, sometimes multiple barns and stables. Chickens I use a 15 x 15 field and up to 6 chook pens. Sometimes I put a farm in there and grow clover only.
I never thought to overlap the grazing areas. I do build a farm or two for clover tho. I don’t usually build a lot of barns for cows and goats and hardly ever horses(don’t know why) but I should totally do more.
Horses are only if you want to have cavalry, otherwise no point.
Yeah, I don’t do horse barn usually mostly cows and goats and chickens
The mechanic for horses is the same as for the other animals, you can have them for meat, right?
You have to manually slaughter them I think. Have read that once you reach max number if you’re not using them for cavalry they stop breeding and stable staff don’t slaughter automatically. Never had stables so …
Just checked, you have to reduce the maximum number to induce them to breed and slaughter, so I set both to 11.
