How do you avoid cold/heat death in Flax now?

Literally no place i can find on the calendar where i don’t lose crops to heat, cold, or even both in the same year.

Same! And it’s not just flax. I’m losing rye at an uncommon rate now. I have 3 fields with it growing at different times of year and I lose at least a third of every field every time to frost and then again to heat or drought. I’m also unfortunate enough to not have great environmental fertility (somewhere between 60-80%) to begin with so I’m already starting in the negative. The farming updates have made expanding with enough food very difficult now. All this and I’m playing in Idyllic Valley most of the time!

This is bizarre. I have only been playing for a week, trying to learn mechanics and getting into farming. You might as well just say “flax and rye will be mostly destroyed by heat no matter when you plant it”, rather than rating it 8/10 for heat tolerance. It dies every single time, without fail.

Rye is bugged I think…it has high heat tolerance but it dies from heat a lot, something is clearly wrong here. Rye grow time also is very long and you can’t avoid extreme heat periods on the calendar and if you plant it too soon you loose even more due to frost. It seems better to just avoid it until fixed…

Just notice guys, than eventhough those events are random, a lack of workers makes the whole job longer to be done.

Yeah but with rye it happens every single time regardless of # of workers.

Food production in general has been nerfed a bit, even hunting.
