How do you build more transport wagons?

I might be missing something, but how do you build more transport wagons? The wagon shop has 2 people working in it, with 2 wagons, but it doesn’t create any more wagons but looks like it could. Do I need to build more wagon shops??

That’s what I did. Built a second one. But in the end some stay idle, guess I don’t have enough work for them

The wagons are not exactly a product, each worker will build its own cart with the materials described and use it so every building can have up to 2 carts, you can build more shops when your town gross bigger as needed.

You used to be able to make actual carts like the one you get at the start of the game. But they turned that option off for now.

I watched them for a while, the main things they do is pick up ore from mines when it hits the inventory limit in a mine (30 I think), pick up wood/stone from a workhouse, and they stock food in the temporary shelters. So they become very handy when you have a few remote mines and workhouses.

It would be nice if the wagons also picked up from smokehouses out by the fisherman hut and the hunter cabin, and from the root cellars out by the fields.

Wagons are slow and limited. The more things you have them pick up from the more of them you will need to get your ore back from the far-off mines.

Don’t put smokehouses and root cellars out there. Put them in town. The farmers and fishers/hunters can bring quite a bit back at a time. You would need dozens of wagons if you tried to pick up from all those other warehouses. Also, how do they know which warehouse/root cellar to pick up from and which to drop off at?

May I respectfully beg to differ about placement of smokehouses. The recently-issued Beginner’s Guide recommends placing smokehouses near hunter cabins and fishing shacks. I find it generally works well, mainly to save time by not requiring the hunter or fisherfolk to schlep all the way to town to unload storage. As well, at least one smokehouse in town or very near.

As for slow wagons, one can have more than one wagon shop, as mentioned above. I’d rather have slow wagons do the pickup than distract the hunters and fisherfolk from doing their hunting and fishing. Their work is also interrupted less if you build a temporary shelter near their workplaces. More than one way to skin that cat. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
