How do you scale spell damage in mid-end game?

I always seem to hit a wall with spell damage (skills that don’t have any % weapon damage, like PRM or Sigil) once I get to about level 40. I can progress just fine if I’m using attacks instead/as well, but without twinking it just seems like spells fall off a cliff during this part of the game. They’re also much more energy-intensive than most attacks, and a lot of them have cooldowns preventing spamming. I use them in conjunction with something I can spam (eg. Word of Pain with PRM) but even then, the damage-to-energy-cost and damage-to-skill-investment ratios are very poor.

Attack skills just scale so much better with more attack speed, the extra % weapon damage, and then the combinations of default attack replacers with WPSs.

Am I missing something? I’m happy to farm +skill items for a bit, which I sometimes do, but I find that unless I get several of them, my spells still seem lacklustre. As an example, my Saboteur carves through most mobs with Fire Strike, but BWC does very little against anything but trash mobs, despite being nearly max ultimate level.

Scaling spell damage is more difficult for sure, but it 100% depends on spell in question. You mentioned BWC, but is that transmuted or non-transmuted one? The former is for burn stacking so if you’re not building around it BWC won’t shine, and if it is the latter then cast speed to stack multiple pools on top of each other.

Have you tried to grab Ulzins Torch as Tier-3 devotion? On almost all on my fire builds, meteor showers is like 40% of my damage output in mid-game

Well my listed build is using the transmute, but it was just an example. I guess he only has ~880% burn damage total, which is low, but even if I pushed this to double or even triple that, it would still suck in comparison to a low levelled Fire Strike. Something seems off with that.

Huh, I’ll have to take the higher tier constellations into consideration. I went for Eldritch Fire on BWC instead as I thought the resistance reduction would be more beneficial than flat proc damage.

That is the right choice. For Meteor Shower you can put 1 point into Grenado and attach Meteor Shower to that.

You can have both of course
