How does critical chance work against multiple enemies?

So I know that critical chance is based on your OA vs your target’s DA. If you have an aoe attack, lets say whirling death with 8 maximum targets, does it calculate the crit once (either crit all 8 or crit none) or does it calculate the crit chance for each target individually?

I’m asking because I’m building a blademaster and I feel like its pretty relevant for proc on crit devotion skills. It’d make a difference between attaching something like “living shadows” to whirling death vs amarasta’s quick cut.

Test it on the dummies in Devil’s Crossing (by observing if numbers are colored). It will take you shorter than making this thread. No offense  Btw all X% Chance on Attack work in the same way. And they have Skill Recharges for a reason.

Okay I went to test it. For anyone curious, it will crit separately for each target. This makes it really good for skills that proc with a cooldown because it will activate as long as one of the target gets hit with a crit.

However, I also noticed that with assassin’s mark, it will only affect the target that you crit against. So if you had an aoe skill and you hit 5 targets, but only crit against 2, assassin’s mark will only appear on the 2 you crit on.

Yeah I know, just wasn’t sure because its different for poe.

It just seemed pretty crazy to me how good aoe could be with these chance to proc or 100% on crit devotions. 15% chance on hit hitting 3 targets raises your probability to like 40% for one attack (if my math is right).

I initially didn’t really care for those devotion skills too much because I was going to put them on wps skills and those only proc about a quarter of the time, but knowing the probability goes up with a bigger aoe makes it really nice.

Also some wps have multiple attacks in a row. Each of them has a chance to proc.
