It appears to be possible (at least when mods come into play) to convert one damage type to “Elemental”. Now, when you convert 100% of one type into Elemental, DOT damage types will become “Elemental Blaze”. I do not believe there is a bonus to “Elemental Blaze” on any sort of gear. Does that mean the only option to increasing this type of DOT is to use Burn/Frostburn/Electrocute, thereby only increasing 1/3 of this type of damage since there’s no catch all for all three (like “+Elemental Damage” is for Fire, Cold, and Lightning)?
Would using the “Elemental Blaze” damage type be useful to convert in the first place? Is there enough gear out there that covers all three Elemental DOT types at once? Thanks.
Gonna level with you - this is the first time I’ve ever read the phrase “Elemental Blaze”, so forgive me if I’m unsure what you’re asking.
If you convert Physical to Elemental, Internal Trauma will be converted to Burn, Frostburn, and Electrocute, and you’d want to scale one of those, yes.
Well, it is a part of TitanQuest Classes mod, particularly in the Nature Tree, which has the option to convert 100% Acid Damage to Elemental Damage for a few skills, which in turn causes Poison Damage to become “Elemental Blaze” damage. It may not be an official term, that I don’t know, but again i’m not sure if its possible in the base game to fully convert one type to Elemental through gear.
What you stated was converting Physical to Fire, which indeed turns Internal Trauma into Burn (as an example), but in this case, the damage type Acid is being converted to is “Elemental” which is all three, which is converting Poison into a type that is all three, which the mod tags at “Elemental Blaze”.
I’m not sure how much conversion there is in the base game, if damage types can be converted to 100% Elemental, but this is how the mod tags it as when a DOT becomes 100% Elemental.
In any case, it is probably safe to assume that i’d need all three of Burn/Frostburn/Electrocute in order to increase “Elemental Blaze” damage evenly/effectively, just whether there is gear that effectively does all three types at once is the question.
Elemental Blaze, I’m not sure how new it is but it’s nothing I added through the mod, it’s in the base game, it’s just like you said, not so easy to convert 100% to Elemental.
The way I see it, it’s just a way to display the text on the tooltip in a neat and concise way without having to list x-y burn, x-y frostburn, x-y electrocute. So now you just have Elemental blaze, which is the dot version of elemental damage, which we already know how that scales (1/3 each element)
I didn’t think it would be a custom text string, since I believe there is “converted to Elemental” gear in game so surely they’d have a tag for it, but as it seems really uncommon, i’m guessing no one’s tried or there’s simply not enough conversion for it to appear.
There are a few items and abilities in the game that provide multiple elemental DoT bonuses. So I’d say that’s your best option. The devotion Rowan’s Crown is a good example.
I don’t know about modded but with RR ruling the meta multiple damage types is not optimal, so you’re not going to see too many builds that use elemental to even talk about elemental DoT
Wow, thanks for searching for those. I can never get the search tool to work on grimtools to properly search for things I want. Either it doesn’t find everything I need, there are too many results that aren’t correct, etc.
Hah, thanks for that, for showing that wildcards and exact matches work in the search.
In addition, Totally Normal Dawnstone Shard converts 100% of Physical to Elemental, so Elemental Blaze should be possible in the base game, converting from Internal Trauma!
Well, yes, that is what “Elemental” is, Elemental is 33.3% Fire, 33.3% Cold, 33.3% Lightning. The Totally Normal Dawnstone Shard reads “100% Physical Damage converted to Elemental Damage”, so Physical becomes equal parts Fire/Cold/Lightning, but in addition this would make Internal Trauma become equal parts Burn/Frostburn/Electrocute, aka “Elemental Blaze”.
I was just stating that it is possible to see “Elemental Blaze” in game. I wasn’t sure if it was before since I wasn’t sure if 100% conversion to “Elemental” was possible, as I was using the TitanQuest Mod’s Nature class to see this interaction.
