Speaking of which, is the new game really as bad as they say it is?
Oh yes. They ripped the spine out of it to please filthy casuals.
Which one do you mean? Dawn of War Warhammer?
Which new Warhammer game? As there’s a number of different Warhammer games been released.
WH40k: DoW3 i mean
Dedicated thread for you guys
Dawn of War 3 is a massive let-down. They gutted it to make it more casual-friendly and tried to make the next Starcraft for online play, but without a dedicated fanbase, nobody is going to get into the game seriously.
I played it at a friend’s house for a bit after it was released and it was sad to see what they did with the franchise. If you need a DoW fix, just go replay Dark Crusade.
Didn’t played it, but after seeing some footage I’ve lost interest.
They brought back base building from DoW1, and they even put Imperial Knights in the game. But that’s one of the few positives to say about this, they gutted everything else. No more customisable squads, no more cover system (now it’s some kind of circle that just increase defense when activated), you get the picture. And from what I know, the campaing is a glorified tutorial, nothing else.
Dumbing down the game is definitely bad, but what about the story itself?
Bland and generic. Basically, there is no story and you’re not given much reason why you’re doing what you’re doing. The campaign is basically one long tutorial that locks units out until that specific has a use for them. Even with the 50% off coupon most people received, it’s still not worth it.
Also the game is pretty much dead now, don’t expect any more DLC or new content to come, all been shelved. because the company is now moved onto AOE4 (and might mess that game as well).
Not touched it, but you could easy see from the early vids they released before the game was even out, the thing was going to be an epic failure. I also got a 50% off coupon, in fact, there were so many people getting one, you just couldn’t shift them!!!
“Might”, do I sense hope?
Thanks for all the replies everyone. Glad I made the right decision to stay away from this
Well there is always hope that they might not mess up AOE 4, but considering that relic failed to heed what the community was telling them, released a game that was heavy influenced by the MOBA genre. and basically released a game that was really short on content. I do sense that AOE 4 might end up going the same route.
I like your optimism, but we both know the sad truth here.
