How to achieve an effective town internal distribution of goods and food?

Hi Guys,
I have built a town where I currently have just over 900 inhabitants. I have houses for living in separated from centralized industrial area. But it is starting to become a long way from the industial area to the furthest houses and markets. I have build warehouses, cart shops, food cellars and markets around the town to have distributed delivery system of goods and food. I am not sure it is working terribly well. What are you doing to manage distribution of goods and food in the town?

Reduce the number of Shelter Stocking runs to minimum for every type of building that requires food, by eliminating as much raw food stuffs from that function as possible.

Process every type of food item you can into long shelf-life goods and let the Markets deliver only those.

Raw food spoilage can triple the number of stocking runs required to any given location.

Other than that, it comes down to physical location.

Travel time is a production killer for everyone except Wainwrights and Smokehouses.

There was said to be improvements in the code in 8.1, re: workers seeking raw mats from remote locations rather than local storage.

That was an issue directly affecting distribution of goods for which you should see improvement.

Build your storage and refinement of raw materials in clusters works best for me. Then wagon shops to distribute the raw materials from afar works decent for me. Wagon shops are needed a lot late game

The best design to reduce travel time is to build your city like a cross or a big circle.

-------------------residential
industrial / center+commercial / residential
-------------------residential

And put farms, barns, trees, etc … arround the city
