So I’m at t4 and it’s saying I need more entertainment. As far as I know, there’s pubs and theatres. Are there any other way other than spamming pubs and theatres?
Maybe add in “Enable Cowtipping” on barns or something? My peasants are gettting pretty tired of watching horrible actors re-enacting Star Wars for the 100th time and is really tired of having Bud Light as their only selection in fine beers and spirits.
Yeah I’ve got 4 pubs and a theatre 47% entertainment, all with people working at the venues, these peasants need to learn how to skip rocks or something
My trick is to select Pub in the build menu, then hold it over the pubs I seem to have a problem with (or select the pub/theater building and hover over it’s green Entertainment bar).
The “entertainment-area” affected will show in green.
Initially I made the mistake of placing pubs at the edges of my housing areas. This made over 50% of the pub’s entertainment area of effect to go to waste. This discovery resulted in me having to rearrange some housing and entertainment venues so the majority of the houses were reached by both pubs and the theater.
After the rearrangement many houses started to level up and the all-around feeling of being entertained started to change for the better.
Sigh. Do we absolutely have to have pubs? I’ve seen mention of fights and brawls and such. I’d rather avoid that unpleasantness (as the child of an alcoholic. Yeah, it’s a personal problem, but it still smarts). Or could there at least be a toggle so we could turn off the more violent aspect of pubs, or maybe those of us who play Pacifist Mode could have pub violence included out, along with raids and, at present wolves, bears, and boars (Though I would like to have wolves, bears, and boars for added food.)
Maybe have some Wandering entertainers, called minstrels or troubadours? that go around your population (houses) and play music? An arena where people fight? tournaments ( Jousting, sword play, archery ) would be a great addition and you could add a tournament grounds to build.
Things people did for entertainment
" Types of Medieval Entertainment varied according to status but included feasts, banquets, jousts and tournaments, Mystery Plays, fairs, games and sports, hunting, hawking, animal entertainment using dogs, bears and monkeys. "
Are you sure about that? It does not say ‘a maximum of’ nor ‘a minimum of’ either. It just says to maximize its entertainment value, that it should be built within range of 40 houses. That does not necessarily mean that that is its maximum value. That could just as easily mean ‘at least’ 40 houses, as in you are wasting its potential to only have 20. Even with 100 houses around it, it still says 100% entertainment and it does highlight all 100 houses to show they are benefitting.
Yup. It has also been corroborated by others, but I’ve had a town where the entertainment started to drop off sharply after having expanded it even though the single theatre had all houses in range. Built a second theatre and my entertainment shot back up.
