How to farm a set ?

Hello guys !

After spending almost 100h on my Commando (I just kill the Loghorrean on ultimate), I never had a complete set. Never.

Did I miss something ? When I was playing Diablo 3, I remember that there was place to farm specific items, and the drop rate was enough to get what you want. So that why I wondering why I can have this in Grim Dawn (in fact, I just finish the game without having a set if we forget the extension…).

I already know about Hive or Forsaken Wastes run, but… I really have to quit/join and farm this place ?

There is no way to farm a specific set outside of MI drops.

And iirc, you can´t farm specific set items in D3 either, unless you consider Kadala a place. :stuck_out_tongue:

You´ll have to trade. There are trade threads here and i think the GD discord has a trade section also.

Well, on those 100 hours you only spent a fraction “having a chance” to complete a legendary set. How many hours it has been since you reached level 70-75 is probably more accurate.

But as the others said, trading is the way.

Holly cow ! I completly forgot about this !

Don’t do it! Trading is not the way as it will kill all the fun!

Jokes, do whatever you want. I choose not to trade but i’m sure i present the minority of 1% or so of the playerbase who does so.

Sets in GD are more an end point for your build then something you use to farm better and better gear. Not really ment to be acheived easily.

But seriously, don’t trade it is as pointless as that “die farming” thing to “legitly” level a character. If you go that route you mayaswell just get GDstash and generate them yourself.

I wanted to say that but i was afraid to upset some of the more sensitive people of these forums!

I use GDStash and I find your comment offensive.

I use GDStash and sometimes i make offensive posts on forum, and i find your post offensive!

I use GDstash too - the packrats best friend. It reallt isn’t ment to be offensive just honest. With GDstashs crafting you snap your fingers and have your coveted item. With trading the finger snap is just delayed for awhile, why is it so much better to wait until you can find a trading partner than just throwing 10 or so mythics onto the ground and calling it a trade/sacrifice to the gods or whatnot?

The compatison to die farm is just that they both use another player to accomplish something that seems rather unnecessary in a game with no controls on how/when you can generate an item or even a full character.

If you are say, missing a Legendary armor piece, your best bet is the Celestial Smith, you can exchange rare crafting materials for a random legendary armor, you might be lucky. Otherwise, they are totally random, yes. Best bet is to do crucible runs, kill Nemeses, go through the 3 challenge dungeons for the final chests, etc.

GDStash sounds like cheating to me, and that would take all the fun out of the game if you can make any item you want. Even sharing items found by my other characters feels a bit like an uneven advantage.

Apparently with the celestial smiths you need to use the new expansion mats (mutagens, missives, wendigo souls) with the AoM version if you want new max level items. At least I’ve read thst haven’t tried it yet.

You can target in D. You just cube the set item you want changing.

I think that is another new smith who appears in Ultimate only, and in another location. I was talking about the Celestial Smith in Tyrant’s Hold - you can find him on Elite already. I have not yet played the expansion on above Normal/Veteran so I cannot comment, but I remember hearing there is a hidden smith somewhere in Malmouth.

Yeah, but for that you have to farm a lot of act-exclusive bounty material (or I forgot what they are called), from each act. I kinda got bored by that after I ended up with pieces of the set I already had. I had more luck farming the Treasure Goblin realm, but of course you need Goblin rings for that, and those dropped like, 2 times for me in all my time playing the game. Not sure how my friends got so many, but I guess they play the game all day…

Kriegs set drops from 3 different mobs only

Dark Ones Gift drops from - In the Lokarr quest to fight him,
there is 4 Rift-Bound Adherent Heroes in the Edge of Reality who all drop a piece of the Dark One set a Bloody Pox set

You can farm Krieg/Dark One set and go from there

Everything else is just RNG at this point as I dont think other mobs drop sets in their lootable.

The only set ive finished is the Valguurs Hunger set and ive played GD daily since Xpac released however rolled 4 chars

There’s the Alkamos rings, which have something like a 1 in 100 chance to drop each kill. And you’ll probably get three of one of them first :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m pretty sure Krieg Set drops in Fleshwork Boss Baddies/Krieg and someone from Crownhill… I’m already 2/5. That’s where I do my daily kill count farming.

Right, The Cube, I totally forgot about that. It´s been a while.

I agree, to some degree. One shouldn´t target a set and then tade for the whole set, that would be weird. I don´t like to trade either, but sometimes I kinda feel i gotta, especially since AoM, the item pool is now simply too big.
Some stuff drops like crazy. Mythical Leviathan? Sure, I got four. Other things, that I want, simply won´t drop. Bastards! So when I hit a wall with a character, and trading 1-2 pieces will allow me to go on, why not?

Just completed this set while farming Lokarr.

There’s any good build around this set yet?
