I’ve got a character nearing level 100 and I’m trying to round out my build, but I’m missing a lot of low level things in the item chains necessary to get what I need. A good example: the Squall relic, whose blueprint is apparently item level 22.
Is there a way to find it on my own character? Would bosses in level 20-ish areas drop blueprints if I fight them with a level 96 character? Or is there a chance for blueprints with very, very low item levels to drop even in Ultimate difficulty?
As the mobs drop items relative to their level, I’d be extremely surprised to find a level 20 ish item in the pool of available drops from a level 90+ mob.
When hunting for blueprints, please be aware that blueprints might well be dropping from what you kill, BUT if you already know the blueprint, then it’s hidden from being seen. So you’ll ONLY see blueprints that you haven’t got, for example even if 20 blueprints drop from a chest, if you have them all, you won’t see a single blueprint.
I once got a level 24 blueprint (item) from Benn’Jahr at level 100 in ultimate. It never happened again, and till this day I don’t know if this works like that or something just bugged. It was somewhere between versions 1.0.2.0 and 1.0.3.1.
Would blueprints still be eligible drops for low level areas though? I understand that with the way the system works, and the fact that I would have already found most of the lower level ones, they might have been showing up in the pool all along and I’m not seeing them.
But I’ve also seen posts in other threads saying that blueprints stop dropping if the level difference is too high and that if you didn’t find a blueprint you needed while your character was in that level window then you’d need to create a new character and bring them to that level just to look for that missing blueprint.
Which sounds like an absolutely horrible system for a game to have, so I’m really hoping those posters were wrong. But after having killed a bunch of bosses on Normal with my close to max-level character with nothing to show or it, I am starting to wonder…
The rare goods vendor in Malmouth can sell low and mid tier relic blueprints I think.
If it matters as well, I know a few special vendors can sell blueprints for Epics/non-Mythical Legendaries. Benevald in the Blood Grove and Vinelton in the Ancient Grove are 2 that I can think of.
Not sure about whether the level difference effects these or not, but also don’t forget that blueprints can drop from anything… any mob, crate, barrel, chest etc not just from bosses.
@Evil_Baka… Cheers, I can never remember which merchant sells what of these
I’ve recently lost all my blueprints due to my own mistake and had this problem myself.
The solution is to play in Veteran mode with a lvl 100 char (or close), so that it’s very fast, and do the usual treasure trove, and / or other farming spots. If the blueprint you’re after is of a higher lvl then what Veteran can drop, then do elite instead.
Tried Crucible Aspirant difficulty but it didn’t seem to work.
Thanks for the tip. I’ve got the opposite problem to what you described unfortunately - I’m afraid the thing I’m looking for is too low a level.
Where would you look for something like Squall (blueprint item level 22)? As far as I can tell, the lowest level area with troves is Arkovian Undercity, but in my game I’m seeing guys at level 45. Is it still viable? I actually have no idea what the level range is on what a trove can drop.
I saw squall on the malmouth Mi vendor once at level 80ish elite, but idk if it scales past that. Try roguelikes. Pretty sure I saw some level 20 blueprints in roguelike vendors at level 100 but it’s rare.
After losing all my blueprints, i went to all the vendors and bought all the blueprints available (several million iron bits to do this, btw).
Then i started doing Crucible Challenger runs 100 - 150, 130 - 150 and 130 - 150: this yielded lots of blueprints but mostly mythical in lvl.
I then tried Crucible Aspirant 100 - 170, 150 - 170, 150 - 170 but most blueprints i get are still mythical in lvl and i’m still missing several lvl 25 / 35 relics, which means i’m limited in high lvl relics i can craft due to this.
Then i tried playing in Veteran: found a lvl 35 relic blueprint within 20 minutes and have found quite allot of blueprints but most of them are epic blueprints, up to lvl 75, with some rare blueprints along the way.
I still haven’t found all the relic blueprints: Squall is one of the missing ones, btw. I figure my best bet to finding them is to continue to play in Veteran a while longer.
Using a high level char, your best bet is to do Veteran Gollus’ runs. There are also other monsters that have chances to drop this particular relic.
Just found it myself, from a Gollus’ run:
Image is a bit big, in size.
EDIT
The reason you need to do it in Veteran (normal non-Veteran might also work) is to eliminate the mythical blueprints from the chances to drop. This way, you’ll have “only” up to level 75 blueprints (epic / legendary) and up to level 50 for relics (not 100% sure: could be up to level 70).
