How to improve this poor Commando?

Alright, seems like I’ve hit a bit of a roadbump with this toon over here, my first one: Commando (cause I didn’t know any better instead of going DK), 90% Soldier, rest in Demolitionist auras.

Grimtools: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/RZRlPaj2

As you can see I’ve picked up a complete Krieg - which is of course ok, but not great. Resistances are all capped, about 58k dps with permabuffs on, a shitton of HP and regen - yeah, I love playing unkillable tanks.

I’m currently farming Ultimate, Smuggler’s Pass, Twin Falls bee run, SoE (Moosy if he shows up), Cromley (long way to Nemesis there, about 13k atm), Kyrzogg, Salazar (and maybe Benny if he shows up) and Krieg (Valastoran if he shows up), in the hope of grabbing some Markovian and/or Warborn, cause those two seem to be the endgame good stuff for Soldier builds.

Those Nemesis I can deal with pretty much without any issues, but Kupa is boring as hell, and Grava just bitchslaps me everytime.

What can I further improve upon, given the fact that those effin’ Ugdenblooms are really tough to farm and that I know that my current weapon sucks? Are my devotion points badly spent as it stands?

Finally, in your opinion, is this guy good enough to make it through Crucible Challenger without having to spend half a day on the last waves, since I find the Crucible so boring?

Any comment/suggestion is very welcome and much appreciated. Thanks a bunch, people!

Welcome to the forum. You can put a couple of comments in this thread

and then you can properly link to the GrimCalc build.

Also have you had a look in the Build Compendium to see if there’s anything in there that would help?

Hi Medea, thanks for the tip: I of course did spend my fair amount of time analyzing the build compendium, but the problem with those builds is that they’re pretty much all based on a very specific equipment set - which I don’t have - and I’m not sure that I could just mimic their devo/skill setup with my current one…

You need more offense. Not having Assassins Mark and the necessary OA to trigger it is a Mortal Sin on a physical or pierce build.

Look at some of the physical soldier / X builds in the compendum. You’ll realize some of your skill choices are VERY questionable - for instance taking Decorated Soldier and Military Conditioning over the softcap. Or taking Veterancy at all - that’s just not done for good reason.

What you need in the short term is more attack speed, more OA/effective OA (enemy DA debuff and player OA are effectively interchangable as long as you consistently apply it), and more resist reduction (namely Assassin’s Mark).

Thanks a lot for the pointers Silben: so, first of all, give up something in order to get Assassin’s Mark, and then subtract points to Decorated Soldier and Military Conditioning until they both reach 10/10 with the bonus points, if I understand correctly? Then nuke Veterancy - or keep a single point there - and spend it all on Warcry/Break Morale?

I just have a quick look at your grimtools and change items + move some skill & devotion points : https://www.grimtools.com/calc/qNYKqdJV

Thanks mate, will check it out!

OP shan’t take any offense sir!!!
Jokes aside, @OP what do you want your build to be in the end?

The million-dollar question, dear Sir: I guess, given the fact that this game is awesome, but extremely complex to understand compared to your run-of-the-mill aRPG, a tanky s&b brick s***house that can facetank a lot of stuff without having to play the funky piano with a skill bar and endure a beating as much as possible. Basically, come at me bro
