How to increase melee/phys resistance?

Hi
I tried using Scaled Hide
(4 of 4 parts)
35 Armor
Increases Armor Absorption by 20% in my legs.
My armor absorption went from 70% to 84% but any time i take a melee hit i still lose like 50%-75% of my hp(12k life pool) in ultimate.
All my other resistance are at 80% except for stun.

Besides Scaled Hide how else can i raise my physical/armor resistance for melee hits?
Any items or devotions?
I am arcanist/soldider (no shield allowed for devastation)

I like using: http://www.grimtools.com/db/items/1101 Hammerfall Girdle. May not 100% fit your build, but it offers a ton of physical defense and hard to get resists.
