How to play a PB spellbreaker.

It’s just one point that give you a “very” small damage boost. Feel free to drop it…

Thanks for the quick reply! Another question…why max Phantasmal armor? Wouldn’t higher OFF be more powerful? Btw I’m using a variant of the warpfire build using ABB instead. Works better than expected.

Is this the best way or could you go Spider + Vulture = Manticore?

Viper, Behemoth and Hawk are much better constellations overall that give better bonuses. Viper debuffs Fire resist, Behemoth gives a chunk of HP and a very strong defensive celestial power, and Hawk has Crit damage.
Compared to that, Spider and Hawk are very underwhelming for a 5 point investment each.

For all the guys who are asking about why i have chosen specific skills/devotions/items:

This’ not a guide where you have to stick exactly to my choices. As i have said in main page, aside from 2-3 “core” things, you have the freedom to “tailor” this build as you like it. You think ABB and OFF are a must have? Grab the skills. You don’t need PA because your gear setup is better than mine? Drop the skill altogether!

You HAVE to absolutely test your ideas, guys, that’s the point of this game.

You are absolutely spot on! That’s the beauty of Grim Dawn; the build diversity is staggering!

Can u post grimcalc link with and without bonuses ? ur link is false

Grimcalc is used only for the devotion map… The skill tabs are under, well, the “skill” section.

Maybe I’m an idiot, but how exactly do you convert one damage type to another, like chaos to aether? I know physical to (any element), but I didnt know you could convert an element to another element.

Chaos>Aether is found on the Albrecht’s Duality legendary ring and on some pieces of the Clairvoyant set.

You’re not an idiot, but an inattentive reader at most :stuck_out_tongue:

Keywords: Albrecht’s Duality, Warpfire

Or, if you’re interested in damage conversion in general, you can go to:
https://gracefuldusk.appspot.com

And entry “damage converted to” in the search.

This will list all the items/affixes with this propriety. Some are pretty interesting.

This looks like soooo much fun! I’ve been wanting to make a build that does Aether damage and I think I’m going to give yours a shot. My only SB I have is super weird and somehow works, I think this will be sweet though.

It gives me ideas for my own as I’ve been trying to make my build more beefy while keeping my damage. When I go up against BoC boss I can’t take any consecutive swings from him or I’d likely rip. I think I’m really just lacking physical resistance but I’m still learning the game more and more as I go.

What has more damage “potential” with your build would you say, devastation or PB (assuming the enemy is standing still)? I’m not sure exactly how my play-style will develop with this build but I’m thinking I’ll be prioritizing keeping enemies immobile for big devastation hits. I realize this is a PB build but I know I’ll eventually wind up experimenting when I get 80+ and most of the gear.

If you’re a big fanboy of the SB class like me and are interested in “unorthodox” experimental builds I’d greatly appreciate your insight on my own build sometime if you have the time :).

This’not my build, but my variation of an existent build at most. I pretty much just tried to summarize the common knowledge.

1- You don’t have to choose between Pb or Devastation. They complement each other pretty well. Also, if you become good at timing skills, with Mirror, Pneumatic Burst and the little adcth from PB you’re able to facetank pretty much anything, if you chose to do so. PS: my hood cast an extra devastation on hit (although not as powerful as the true one).

2- About BoC last boss, just see my video, BUT read the comment. If i time my skills right, I just need to kite the first 5-6 seconds of the fight, then I facetank him till the end.

2- I don’t like the term “fanboy” at all, but yes, SP used to be probably one of my preferred class combos. But since the latest patch, i don’t know anymore (albeit TD was really broken, and needed to be fixed)

If you like “theorycrafting”, just post your ideas in this section and ask for opinions and tips. This community is a nice one, you know, and I will make sure to pass and share my point of view.

Thanks for the quick reply, PB+devo does seem to synergize very well, I’ll have to get myself that hood. Do you think the amulet Herald of the Apocalypse has any potential at all?

I think I may need to put more points into mirror so I can melee engage more against bosses like that and take better advantage of my shard of beronath. I just fear that one day I’ll end up dying because mirror is on CD from using it offensively too much.

I currently do have a thread open here in this forum section and any idea’s would be appreciated :). Try to keep an open mind with it, it isn’t really capable of being optimized to a perfect build mostly because of the damage type but it’s really fun so I’m trying to do the best I can with what the class combo gives me. It just wouldn’t be the same with another class, like Trickster.

Now I don’t know where to answer you. So i will adress the first three question here, since they are pertinent to this build, and then I’ll give a look to your thread.

  1. In terms of min-maxing, nothing beat a Peerless Eye. Maybe if that amulet just casted the granted skill on hit, it would have been a contender, but, as now, having another thing to manually activate will simply clutter the gameplay without any reason.

  2. You have to adjust Mirror to your own preferences, that’s a given, but with more practice you’ll probably find that one point (+ the bonuses) is eventually sufficient.

  3. Shard of Beronath???:stuck_out_tongue: This’a PURE CASTER. PB is your main skill (you can spam it if you take the transmuter), and Devastation the complementary one. You can dump devastation (although i strongly advice against this) but PB HAS TO BE your main attack, since this is a PB build.:stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT> About the shard, you were clearly referring to your thread. Sorry.

Sorry, I’ve just never seen those items before :frowning: So when I’m leveling up, should I focus on %vit and %chaos damage? Until I’m able to use the rings and dagger?

Hi guys, for my final devotion points I’ve decided to put it into the Ulo constellation and assign it to Devastation. http://grimcalc.com/build/ouGYZWb

What do you guys think of my Devotion setup? Anything that can be fine tuned?

I got most essential gears (helm, glove, hands, rings) the same as yours. However, I still fail to reach all of your combat attributes…

:frowning:

He probably has better rolls on the items.
