How to set-up mules?

So Id like to start using mules. Manually with no mods for now.

So I make a mule say Chest

But as I haven’t got the bag quest’s done, and dont have a way to move Iron for stash space, Im not sure how it can work.

How can I get Iron on new characters? Seems like I can only sell items, but that would mean a lot of items to sell if all stash spaces cost like 300k Iron total. Not so bad if you had 2-3 mules, but what about 15 mules or more…

So what to do? Can mods like Grim Dawn Stash give me Iron?

No, but it can give you inventory bags. But then again, if you’re going to use GDStash to create mules, you may as well just use it for storage.

yes (you can set the amount the char has), and inventory bags (you find them under quest items, take them from the stash, drop them on the ground and pick them up again)

You might as well skip the whole mule part and use the tool for storage at that point however

Thanks, works fine  Will consider use mods for muling later, for now this works.

Going to have to agree with everyone else… if you are already using GDStash then there is literally no point in making mules. You are actually wasting a bunch of time switching between characters in-game for this purpose. If you use GDStash all you need to do is Alt-TAB out to access whatever you need quickly and basically infinitely.

Muling is so damn out-dated and unnecessary in GD I still just have to roll my eyes everytime I see it mentioned.

Sorry to all you mulers out there but… you’re doing it wrong (so very wrong) and it pains me to see you wasting so much of your time. I pray for you.

…>.< And this is why I didn’t want to mess around with it…

Just lost all the items in my shared folder messing around with the mode. Any way to get it back? Already googled for like an hour, no concrete help.

urgh, files and shit gets corrupted so fast.

The only way you lost it is if you pressed DELETE. Otherwise you have two other options: COPY to the GDStash Database or MOVE to the GDStash Database. If you MOVED it to the Database it is literally IN the Database and no longer in your stash. If you DELETED it then I don’t know what to tell you unless there is a backup.

I seriously doubt any corruption occurred unless you literally hard crashed your PC and the more likely answer is user error and misunderstanding of what you are doing.

To find any items you may have MOVED into the DB you need to SEARCH the app for the items in order to move needed ones back in to the stash. It’s easy. Simply press the big SEARCH button (under the Stash Transfer tab). A window overlay appears. Find the dropdown menu that currently says NONE in it (under the Item Info section). Click it and select All Items. Press the big bad SEARCH button again. All items you have moved in to the DB will now display and be accessible. Left-click any displayed items picture once, now move your mouse into the displayed stash grids to the right. Left click once more. Item will appear in your stash. Press the big Save Stash button. Tab back in to the game and talk to the stash guy.

NOTE: make sure any inventory or stash tabs are closed inside the game before doing any GDStash operations or nothing that you do will work.

Meh, not sure what I even did wrong. At one point I closed the program without saving (Prompt come up), but besides that I dunno.

Anywho, this was exact reason why I cba messing with these clunky 3rd party programs that alters game files.

Don’t know what to tell ya. Surprisingly, even tho the app has been around for quite some time now, I never really used it until the past couple weeks. I was able to figure out how to use it on my own (the above directions being a direct result of that) in about 10 minutes of messing around.

if you did not save, then whatever changes you made in the program did not get saved in the file. As in that case the file was not changed, the tool is also not responsible for what happened with your items.

Assuming you did save the stash, there should now be a transfer.t00 file. That is the most recent backup. Whenever you save the stash, the at that time current version is renamed to .t00 and the new one is saved as transfer.gst.
The tool keeps the last 10 backups as .t00 (newest) to .t09 (oldest)

Renaming the .t00 back to .gst restores the previous stash. Same for .t01 and so forth, in case you caught the mistake too late.

check the documentation first, esp. the FAQ…

Thanks, was able to recover most of it (At least the items I had saved for my build since lvl 1)! Good help, odd how google found nothing off this.

Another lesson learned then. Im such a Wizard at say Hero Editor for Diablo 2, but this program scares me xd
