Hunters ignore set radius - v0.7.5f

I have two hunter huts near each other, but set their hunting radius’ about on opposite sides of town.
One will sometimes go across town, but typically will hunt a different pack of deer near their hunt but incredibly far from their radius.
The other typically only hunts a pack of deer that is near their hut, despite the radius being a good bit away on a different pack of deer.
As far as I can tell, nothing will make them hunt the correct deer. If I want them to properly spread out their hunting, I have to move their huts or manually micromanage them. Why even bother putting the ability to change where they hunt if it hardly works.

When hunting they start hunting right away, if their hut is within their natural hunting range then yeah they are going to go after deer that are close. Why would you not put the shack across town if that’s where you want him to hunt? You’re just greatly increasing his travel distance that way.

Ah, so not a bug, but a poorly done mechanic. I’ll be sure to post about this in the correct area then- I want their huts there because most of the time that is where I want them to hunt, but when the deer population gets too low I move them to hunt elsewhere.
I’ll find a location far enough from deer so they’ll actually use the radius mechanic. Thanks!

Its a bug in my eyes. If u can set the radius then it should be respected and not ignored by some other mechanic.
I was trying to do the same thing as you, switching between hunting areas, but the hunter never got to the set area because he encountered deer on the way. This needs fixing.

They don’t ignore the radius. They will move to the target area, but hunt any deer in range on their way there.

I personally do think it’s not a bug, as a bug would be an unintended error or glitch or something is broken and not working, this was just really poorly done and explained even worse, as in, not at all.
Foragers don’t forage along their way to the radius you set. Fishers don’t somehow fish along the way to their radius.

Yes, which isn’t how it seems like it should work, both intuitively and mechanically. Why give me the option to select where the hunter hunts if they’re just going to tell me to screw off because they felt like hunting entirely outside of the radius?

A hunter randomly walking past deer is also unintuitive. Suppose it can’t go both ways. Maybe they need to add a strict option for the hunter that forces them to hunt in the area only.

In my experience the current system can be quite useful, and I’d prefer it over having the strict option only.
