I believe this is the real successor to Diablo 2

well, let’s see what actually happened

You restored one shrine of his, which is not really all that significant (“The shrine was created in my honor, yes. It is one of many, though none suffered the corrupting presence of Ch’thon as this one.”)

You did not encounter him, merely his avatar. What the actual Mog is up to, you have no idea. For all you know he could be battling evil in some far away place or sleep in an equally far away cave.
Personally, I think he is preparing for what is to come in his own way. Gathering intelligence and preparing his plans.

He does tell you however that this is an epic struggle that has been started aeons ago and that he is doing something about it, but without giving you any details (“The wheels set in motion to culminate in what you call the Grim Dawn have been spinning for far longer than your short life”, “The Rhowari are my chosen people. It is through them that I shall act out my will in the coming darkness.”, “The fate of the Rhowari is for me to dispense. I do not expect a mortal to comprehend my intentions.”)

I honestly couldn’t care less if Grim Dawn is the sucessor of Diablo 2 or not. In terms in what i look in an ARPG, Grim Dawn has checked every box possible.

Grim Dawn is probably the game i had the most fun with in years and it’s in my top 5 favourite games already. I already made 16 characters, i’m still having a total blast and i honestly can’t wait for the expansion.

Agree with this. I dont know exactly what he did in his past, he deserves sadistic painful death because what you said there. Cocky, useless shitbag is what he is. Provoking him and seeing him dead exhilarates me.

I have been told this by many people that his actual form might be busy elsewhere. But here’s thing-

-I still think it’s weird that the guy who has the power to wreck faces isn’t doing the basic thing of protecting the beasts around him. I don’t want him to kill Log or Shar’Zul just protect the damn beasts.

-I am fairly certain even if he hadn’t said anything even a kid could have guessed that the worse is yet to come. So that’s not even the least bit helpful
Also, his information isn’t helpful. Anasteria? Now she’s helpful

Let’s compare him with other known Ascendants-

-The Three (Ascendants much like the arrogant guy cosplaying as a deer) have abandoned their realm to go and personally investigate something. But this guy somehow thinks that it’s okay to chill a little and enjoy the scenery while 10 feet away from him (not literally) the aetherial corruption is consuming his precious beasts.
Why is his Avatar here and what the heck is he doing? He doesn’t deserve the title of the God

-Solael sucks out the life essence of his followers, Dreeg sends plagues and Bysmiel (well we need to give her more lore-time guys) but their followers know all this and still follow them since these Ascendants deliver what they promise. They share with their followers a fraction of Eldritch Power
But Mogdrogen? He doesn’t protect the Rhowari neither about his beasts.

I thought that from the lore related to the Mark of the Traveler this guy might have genuinely cared for beasts. But the Hidden Path note makes me doubt this guy.
Come on Crate give us the expansion
