don’t trust the screenshots, there is a chance that it’s not reflecting it properly. It definitely hits with both hands now. I tested it on Pierce BM after gloves buff and it absolutely shreds (and tooltip is smaller than on your screens).
Comfort is subjective. I played 0.5 seconds cd version before and it felt more clunky to me (pseudo-spam spells feel clunky in GD in general). In terms of speed and damage just based on that Pierce Blademaster it’s miles ahead of what it used to be pre this test patch. And Korba RoS shouldn’t be worse at minimum.
you’re right it does def slap twice, i guess the sheet just doesn’t reflect that nr wise, because 2x 100k numbers does fly up vs 1 prior, which would be twice its current sheet dmg/dps. That just makes it all the more confounding that double the cooldown feels worse when dps is actually same/up
I am aware how math works, yes. But, again, you are missing a substantial chunk of power from the Rune of Kalastor modifiers. And no multi-class set is intended to be leaning 100% on just one of the masteries.
This set went from…here’s a bunch of RR, good luck! to…here’s some skills to use, they’ve been buffed substantially by the set.
The reason I showed the onslaught modifiers was to justify going from spam sigil to a longer cooldown. A longer cooldown means we can scale the damage higher (a good synergy with onslaught), but it also means less key presses.
I am not personally a fan of spamming really short cooldown abilities on cooldown. After a certain point a skill might as well be spammable. This is also why I am generally not a fan of baking lower and lower cooldowns into mastery skills.
and i totally get that/am onboard with that, it’s probably why Dunefiend feels decent to me as it does the “bomber” style having no CDR and quite the opposite
But, i would also argue there is a difference from having baseline low cd approach across the board, like we’re doing with nado, vs in radaggan’s example having it gated off by full set, and supplementary items, blocking a bunch of other stuff/modifier slots
it’s “unique” for Radaggan to be spam sigils, where for Korba we can say there other or different spam enablers.
And conversely, if everything gets mid cd and "just charges instead"scaling for FoA, it’s not like that’s gonna keep things fresh across the board either.
*i’m not also saying Radaggan has to be the sole low cd Sigil itemization we’ve got,
but it stands extra out because it was the current, it worked without being remotely game-breaking/top competitive, and getting changed for something solely in the (distant?) future to boot… - it just seems like a lot… why this, why now/why not something else or why not not.
we can have both a spam/low cd build a mid cd charge build and high cd build of “stuff”/xyZ skills. It’s just that now the low cd Sigil (+korba) version got lost, leaving only the others atm. - and without the charges ofc
Radaggan had Sigil as its only active skill, the others were just RR delivery, so a low cd was ok. With Necro gaining Acid RR natively, it made sense to introduce new active skills as Ill Omen was no longer riding in there like a crutch.
If you had to juggle low cd sigils AND something else just to maintain your core rotation, I feel that this would become untenable for most people. Maybe I am wrong, and we can revisit the set if that is the case, but at some point we had to make a decision as to where the “fun” is for this set, and spamming sigils between runes did not seem to be it.
well, i can’t say for runes, since the cdr got removed, i know you say dmg is currently missing but it still felt clunky enough to me from downtime/standing around doing nothing for 2secs, but i’m also not a top runner.
Banana left feedback on DE interaction for runes, i’d imagine it would be similar annoying for DE+CD sigils, as he even suggested to swap DE for Ravenous Earth already, another CD skill (with extra cdr potential)
Radaggan Cabalist was already doing Spam Sigils and RE on vit (and some Acid setups), so i personally don’t think/see that would be more annoying on Runes. Can’t say if Rune dmg increase will make the downtime sadge go away, but if RE+Spam sigil was anything to go by it doesn’t seem like it should be clunkier on runes
*again not trying to argue for the sake of arguing, just positing it kinda does/did work, and the main clunk factor might then be DE itself.
But there is also nothing saying pseudo spam sigils couldn’t be enabled elsewhere, it’s mainly the stark contrast of that status quo change/affecting so much
**also unnecessary Sentinel hostility
I swear I didn’t see it, haha, but I guess it’s the only “logical” addition. Of course having it support Acid RE would mean that we can actually start cooking with gas.
Do I now have to revamp my character just because you PERSONALLY did not like how it was played as a low-CD skill? RoK and DE buffs are not going to help on a Sentinel…
Just tested it in playtest - the char was already on the weaker side but now it’s just utter garbage with 2s sigil CD
You are playing the set with an unsupported combination and even acknowledge it was on the “weaker side” already.
At a some point, we need to make sure the set’s intended masteries are functional. If you want to play creative meme builds, that is absolutely welcome but, from the perspective of the people balancing the game for everyone, where do you draw the line? Should we also look at the set’s viability for a Witch Hunter with Sigils? Or a Pyromancer? Chances are someone out there tried that too.
The longer cooldown doesn’t make it garbage. What it did was it took a fun identity away.
“Fun”
I wouldn’t bother though. I tried to point this out over time. Both by being a jerk and being “middle ground” about it.
I am sure there have been many people who tried everything. But that is the problem. The mindset of the person who made it. Just because it doesn’t align with the tester’s goals doesn’t make it bad. Not being able to go past SR 75 (still making the timer for extra chests) is not bad neither is clearing CR in 6 min…not to the largest subsection of the community.
Bottom line, regardless of whether I am offensive with my opinion, I don’t want to see a world where everything “has” to be competitive or one where this game feels like it’s devolving into something it just shouldn’t be.
If meme builds are welcomed then having them go away can’t be 100% “better for the game.”
If the above is the case then I hope I see sets for acid devastation, acid PB, phys SoC, etc.
Unfortunately that starts to look like D3 with the extra bells and whistles to get there.
