Played DW Witchblade with the new weapon. I like the direction. The build is quite sturdy vs bosses, not as much vs crowds, but also not bad. The dmg is a bit lacking, both AoE and solo. Cadence would probably have better dmg but the weapon has WPS focus so i tested WPS.
Here are some suggestions:
Would be pretty cool to have some flat trauma on CoF as additional mode. Phys doesn’t have anything like that. Maybe 200 per second a piece?
Not seeing it fitting phys Death Knight and how can it compete with Warborn. Suggest to change the NE mod to 100% cold to phys and 400/5 trauma for Spectral Binding as a viable alternative to Beronath crutch. Maybe that way Warborn can finally approach top lvl
Witchblade with natural items lacks health. Maybe increase the granted hp value to 600-700
Maybe make it turn Zolan into a circle hit, dishing out that trauma to everyone around?
Overall the solo target is still low but i’m not sure how to buff it for Witchblade without the tooltip bloat.
Instead I suggest to enable Rah’zin more for physical and giving Touch of Chaos 40% chance to %320 all dmg instead of chaos. Also the buff to the set is due, IMO. If you look at the items, it gives very low hp and stats, and the mods aren’t exactly mindblowing, which is why the former staple of melee now lags behind most supported melee.
why? does it need to?
you guys already praised Warborn after last PTR changes, why does it need a further bump/again? - not everything needs to be top20, stuff already doing fine/more than fine doesn’t need additional buffing, warborn DK is not exactly an underdog at this point
i also personally don’t think it requires stripping the NE mod just because you guys hate NE for melee builds, not everything needs to be perfect, allow Z to troll you
*i’m also personally hoping Z reconsiders the mods and re-enables phys RE instead of killing it out right like this for just another melee DK/wps weap… imo this was the most unnecessary and redundant change it could have been
It’s a strange thing to focus on, i might’ve not said it at all.
The question you should always ask yourself when you make a new weapon - what purpose does it serve? Where does it land in your options? We already have onehand.melee.physical.deathknight in the game which is Warborn. How many more onehand.melee.physical.deathknights do you want in the game?
Of course anyone who sees the weapon and thinks of DK will have two questions: 1) how does it fit Warborn? 2) can it compete as DW with Warborn. The answer to the second question is negative. The weapon has pure WPS focus for a class with Cadence as the only AA option. Cadence with WPS focus was always a subpar gimmick, and pure Cadence focus will always be stronger. So with that out of the way the first question remains. And as of now, there is absolutely no reason to take Corruptian over Beronath.
which is why i touched on just that and none of the other mentions, as they seemed slightly more fitting, since warborn or melee dk is probably not in need of buffs.
should it be a rahzin second weapon, i don’t know, personally don’t think that’s necessary either,
i’m still firmly in the "que?/why was it changed this drastically when that wasn’t evenwhat Grey asked for?"camp, thus sincerely hope we get phys RE back, since that’s atleast somewhat novel, instead of just yet another melee AA/wps weapon.
*again doubly puzzling to me since the ask was specifically to make the DEE portion more interesting, not nuking RE existence, let alone to add another melee weap to the game, which just makes it seem all the more unnecessary
“slap this in the pre-existing pile of melee weapons”, - while removing the singular unique use it actually had, regardless how strong/“top build” that use then was @_@
adding another melee wps weapon doesn’t add more variety in my mind, regardless what modifiers we slap on them, it removed variety instead.
but if we “must” have a regular ol melee weapon, it probably doesn’t need to be buffed that much on top
Since our Lord Zantai is happy with his redesign of this item, I would like him to really take into consideration your comments, especially points 3, 4 and 5. DW builds are what I enjoy most in this game and having a competent physical Rah’zin would be 10/10.
I was playing steps of torment to see how bad the reflected damage from the skeletal knights would be (my build has 55% reflect reduction and 37% physical resist):
That duration is due to the mutilate wps from blademaster relic. Suicide by skeletal knight, entirely possible. My suggestion is to cut the trauma duration bonus on this weapon by like half. It’ll still be plenty for dot stacking.
I found capping attack speed with two of these a little difficult, perhaps a couple percent more attack speed?
Overall though, much better than what it was before.
