I really think Biased MI drops ruined item farming

Yes. But that’s not a good thing. I remember farming Dermapteran swords before the biasing change. It took me 20 or so runs to get a one with flat physical or piercing + alacrity. After the change, I got it in the first try. That’s just not as fun or rewarding in my opinion.

I am definitely not saying that good drops should be as rare as Tyrael’s Might in D2. But Grim Dawn is currently way too generous with loot.

To you, maybe, not to me. The change made gearing builds around MIs much more feasible, specially when many are build defining.

How is it fair for a bunch of builds to have items with guaranteed stats that define their builds, i.e legendaries, but builds around made MIs had to go through the excruciating pain of having to to drop the item in the first place (which to be fair can be targeted farm, but let’s not forget their droprates used to be horrendous. Also let’s not forget there are targeted legendaries as well.) on top of having to get appropriate affixes? Doesn’t sound very fair to me.

People complain when the items are too rare, people complain when they are considerably easier to get. There’s no winning. But i’ll take the latter for sure if it means not spending literally days to get a MI with appropriate affixes, because MIs aren’t some super rare item that only boosts damage, they are items that you make builds around.

i don’t think that’ really just because of the bias change, but because of the drop increase added later too, which, imo, is what’s made MIs more less special than the affix bias
I also voiced this when boss MIs became 100% and suggested perhaps make then 85-95%, just so there was some sort of slight chance of RNG"sadge"

Affix bias was mainly bad for (legit) meme builds, making it harder to get those weird chaos chillstrife daggers etc (but not impossible).
The 1.2.1? rarity change however really dialed things up, which just works extra tandem with the bias.
I don’t think, personally, it was ever hard to get a superior/puncturing derma slicer of alacrity, (kinda unfortunate example you used there imo ), it’s definitely easier to get a Heartpiercing of alacrity tho, but again i think the issue is more pronounced because of the drop increase not so much the bias
*Mostly because i made meni “bias working as intended” memes Grim Dawn Meme Corner - #758 by Gnomish_Inquisition before the actual drop increase, so bias wasn’t inherently really that un-special’ing, but the drop increase greatly added to that since we’re “drowning” in MIs left and right now

For now the only work around I can think of is play Grim Dawn League. There are potions which frequently drop when you defeat ghost heroes which will reroll prefix or suffix of rare items depending on the potion. If you play a lot, you’ll accumulate a lot of them. And you can use as many as you like on the item until you get what you want.
