In my opinion, having MI’s drop with biased aggix/suffix rolls was a really bad move
and made it utterly impossibly to roll mi’s with the rolls WE needed for specific builds.
I’ve ran about 20+ Karroz runs and i see bloodsworn scepters drop with dual Void rolls
constantly, more than any other item in the game. But when i farmed Salazar in act 1
for his sword, 25/30 swords aprox, were of Decay which wasn’t of any use for me.
This is why i’m really starting to think that implementing this “biased rolls” on rares
was a really bad move for players like me that farms MI’s at times for builds.
I wanted a Cabalist +Of bestial Rage roll on the sword, but due to this implemented
feature, the odds of getting the rolls, is lower than having both rings of Alkomos drops.
I know what you’re saying; and agree with it to a point. However, before the change I hated getting fire or aether affixes on a pierce weapon I was farming. It was so annoying. Now, that happens a lot less.
I would assume that this change has something to do with the upcoming affix re rolling mechanic that’s going to be introduced in FoA.
Salazar is/should be pet biased too iirc
it’s just that you have a higher chance of getting a magick affix than a rare, so with that it means decay is going to be common regardless (there is no magick pet affix on weapons)
Bias doesn’t mean/prevent of bestial rage dropping, in fact it increases your chances in this scenario, but you’re also higher chance of getting it compared to before [Resource] Affix drop rates for rare MIs in a spreadsheet
You were just always low chance of getting a double rare, and always lower chance of getting double rares with specific affixes we liked.
*by that meaning the total drop chance is(should) be up compared to before, even if your chance of getting a specific one/outside bias one is slim to none “it was always slim to none’er”
Damn I noticed that there were no magic suffixes for pets (only rare suffixes), but in fact the only magic preffixes are only for jewelry, belts, and off-hands… damn…
It does feel like it might be a bit much at times. There’s so many seering fire of flames and electric lightning of lights, etc. it doesn’t feel special. It’s more like “oh more of those”. But at the same time I still get stupid combo’s (especially for double rares) so maybe it’s not too bad.
Biased removed some totally non useable prefixes/affixes, so imo it is a good thing. Prefer to have more of decays in that case with possibility to roll a good prefix (nevertheless in both scenarios its not what you are looking for). But lets be honest, farming for the perfect prefix suffix combo is nearly impossible and luckily this is a min maxing thing instead of a working/not working build
Completely disagree, made making builds around mi weapons much easier. Now rare affix + magic affix of the same damage type as the base damage of the mi is much easier to get.
But then you get the issue that some item types don’t have magic affixes for some damage types (for example, weapons don’t have pet-related magic affixes, neither do armors - except belts). So if you want a Salazar sword with both a pet prefix and a pet suffix, you must get a double-rare, there is no other possibility…
and it has “astronomically” higher chance of dropping as double rare pet affix because of it than it did previously,
you have lost nothing because of the bias addition but literally only gained
you also don’t “need” a double rare pet affix to have it be useful, the other caster magick prefixes are still potentially handy to you, in similar degree as they are to player builds/player builds are equally miffed about their magick prefixes on caster weapons
Difference is pet rare affixes is much higher chance on pet weapons than rare player dmg affix on player dmg weapons
*this is not me arguing against pet magick affix existing
but the perception here is entirely wrong an unfounded; magick pet affixes never existed on the weapon, so you are not less likely to get a useful Salazar now with bias than you were before the bias change; you’re more likely to get a useful one for pet builds
it’s like a 20x usefulness increase or something, if not more
Except Salazar’s blade has bias to pet affixes. I get wraithbound of binding all the time.
Edit: Also, do you want to things to go back to the way things were before? Because getting the rare pet affixes for Salazar’s blade would be a million times worse if the bias wasn’t there.
haha don’t get me wrong, I forgot that the basis of the conversation was loot biais. I think loot biais is a good thing for that same reason ^^
funny, for Salazar I get decaying of decay all the time ^^ haven’t found a double-rare yet. I wouldn’t mind something with defensive affixes you see, like one pet affix + one defensive affix, but well… I guess it’s a matter of RNG, perception, and amount of time spent farming the goddam thing, but still… it feels kinda of a hopeless grind. same with the searing korvaak’s burning blade of scorching…
this already exists/is a (common) possibility; but you’re still restricted by/limited to the existing affixes.
For caster weapons that means non dmg magick prefixes are Mystic %spirit, Stalwart %DA, Aggressive %OA, you have the same chance of getting mystic like you do stalwart, but Decay(dmg) magick prefix has slightly higher chance than the neutral magick prefixes since it’s still a weapon
i’m not sure about the complete interaction functionality, because as Norzan said, because Wraitbound of Binding does seem to drop “all the time”, but according to the sheet it should only be around 0.2% of the time, which doesn’t seem to match my own experience either/like Norzan
(and as i recall Modal said somewhere double rare % chance should be like 1% baseline now after 1.2.1 or something, but perhaps i’m mixing it up with something else)
