I should know this by now...(Devotions)

I’m running a DW Fire Purifier and I’m about to unlock Eldritch Fire. The only thing that I have available to bind it to is Inquisitor’s Seal. Does the 15% chance still base itself off from Firestrike/Auto-attack? I’ve always been a little foggy and it may impact my other assignments (obviously).

Thanks!

It is based on the attacks made by the skill that devotion skill is bound to.
So in this case, Eldritch fire will have chance to proc when inq seal attacks.

That means two things:

  1. Monsters have to stand on seal so that seal can attack mob and thus have chance to proc eldritch fire
  2. Inq seal is a pseudo-pet, that means that the eldritch fire proc will be casted around the inq seal, and not around you

So, if I’m running Fiend and Witchblade…I’d want one of those on Firestrike (I’m guessing Witchblade for -rr), and the other on something like Explosive Strike or Inquisitor’s Bursting Round?

Flame Torrent will be cast around you then.

But it is just a matter of trial and error and see what fits your playstyle best. Easy to change devotion binds

I figure Flame Torrent is better cast around me, at least from what I’ve seen. Things like Flesh Hulks manage to make it to my circle, but melt under the torrent. I’ll mess around with things.

Once again, thanks Malawiglenn!

Yeah but they will then also stand on your seal, and your seal attacks pretty fast.

I’ve made excellent experiences binding offensive stuff to the seal. For example on a Havoc-Tactitian i’ve bound Blind Fury to it, wich enables you to drop a seal in the middle of a pack for pretty effective AoE support. Once the pack is thinned out you can charge onto the seal and benefit from its amazing defensive boni. And the Blind Fury proccs in a way provide more safety too. So i’d recommend to at least give Fiend on seal a try. If you don’t like it, it takes two clicks, and Fiend is bound on sth else again :).

Seal is excellent for procing devotions on crit, especially in Crucible. Also can be good with meteor shower. For Eldritch fire,I advise you to use something different though.

A problem I have with fire builds is that there are so many good fire devotions :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes and unless you use OK you can’t bind them all-Torch,Magi,Crown,Witchblade,Phoeni,Imp all you need low CD skills.

I put Meteor Shower on Bursting Round because it will usually cast early and everything will run through it. Plus it’s great for taking out pockets of ranged attackers.

Chilling rounds for example can be use to proc devotions for ranged Purifier, unless is DPS loss, each projectile will have separate chance to proc devotion. In melee blazing charge is good to proc meteor shower, due both have similar CD and you’ll have 100% proc chance.

I remember my old fire purifier, I got chilling rounds and storm rounds (or what it is called now again) up to 5/10 just to have more QoL when it comes to proccing devotions :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, smooth.I take them too for pierce Tactician even without any conversion, except Storm spread. In my case their animation speed is good and against multiple enemies are adding extra damage.Soldier wps from other hand are useless.

I like Markovian for lazy DA shred though. But perhaps Rune or stormbox is more efficient

Stormbox’s DA shred is the stacking debuff variety, and as such weaker than Markovian’s or RoH.

I also almost always take Markovian’s for lazy DA shred on any Soldier/X unless I don’t intend to be auto attacking (in other words playing forcewave)
