[Idea] Change "of spellweaving" mess of suffixes into one "%total damage" suffix

Credit for the idea goes to @John_Smith. Personally, I think it’s a wonderful idea and will increase quality of life of self found builds a lot. Right now it’s the most random suffix that mixes totally random damages together. Values of %total damage can be adjusted. It should also increase a drop chance of other suffixes. Value can be adjusted (lowered) of course.

    • Yes, make “of spellweaving” one suffix that gives “%total damage”
    • No, leave it as it is.

I want to say just omit this, because we already has other suffix that increase individual %damage. Unfortunately they can’t do it.

If it become %total damage, it will need to be adjusted. Maybe 60%?

I’m more in favor of culling the singular damage suffixes at level cap.

With affixes going to massive overhaul, it’s good idea to suggest some proposals. I think spellweaving have too many different combinations. So it could be just one with 50-60% total damage instead. It will not be overpowered for yellow affix for sure.

I agree. even a %magic damage and % magic duration damage like spirit does, would work wonders.

There is so much randomness among affixes as it is (like completely useless RARE affixes depending on which MI it is attached to), that changing this would not change the fact.

In other words, I’m for changing it to %total damage.

The real impact of this would be narrowing the pool of magic affixes making Alacrity more common.

individual spellweaving mods already have a fraction of weight compared to the others.

I’m guessing it all sums up to a single affix’s worth or nah?

not exactly, according to the grimtools affx calc. I’d have to actually datamine the loot table to get something more specific than that.

“Of spellweaving” translates to “vendor crap”.
I don´t recall EVER using a green item with that affix.

So yeah, change it into something useful, or take it out of the game, don´t care, but change it.

:+1:

I’m against changing it.

  1. Not every item has to be good
  2. I need vendor crap to get rich

you can still sell Frostbite, Ruin, etc. single-element mods.

I only said that to poke fun at tsuelue’s remark.

My point is “Not every item has to be good”. Disagree with that? Tell me why and I might change my opinion

As far for the usage of “of spellweaving” items, I’ve used them plenty while leveling up. So they have their purpose, they just aren’t as good as other items and I’m fine with that.
