There were multiple threads about this back in the day, we always wanted to have our skills change colors depending on our conversion. For example, if we managed to get 100% physical -> fire, our Forcewave would be red etc. Crate never wanted to do that since it requires them to change the whole skills to the appropriate color. So I thought, why not just apply that to skills that have their own conversions, for example, if we have Drain Essence, and we get Gravechill (transmuter), it changes its colors to blue-ish. Many skill have this mechanic, so I thought it’d be a great idea to do the same with items that convert a certain skill’s damage type to another. Let’s take Mythical Stormseer Sapphire as an example, it changes Aether to lightning and fire to cold, so instead of the lightning-y beam of death, we’d have a snowy beam with lightnings that also changes its colors to blue-ish, or, if this would be too much to do (because PFX’s are often not something that can be made/changed in two clicks, it sometimes requires multiple changes and swallows time by that), just change the colors to blue-ish. If we had an item that changes the types of AAR to physical, the skill would be brown-ish.
We actually would want every conversion to do that, yeah, but we also know it’d probably take another expansion time to apply it as we want, therefore it’s basically pointless, but as not every skill in the game has 100% conversion rate in an item, it would (considering only color changes) take few hours and would make the eye happier if we knew we have a basely green skill that changed its types to cold and lightning and therefore it also changed colors to blue-ish.
If I was a good modder, I’d actually try to do that myself and maybe even release a mod that changes that accordingly to every conversion in the game, but not only I suck at modding GD (and don’t want to learn it too, too lazy) but it also requires us to change stuff in the engine (most likely).
PS: Imagine blue Grenados (Rimetongue) or green Sigil of Consumption (Radaggan), that’d be so super cool that we’d throw money on Crate’s face for that. Wow…
The same exact reason why skills don’t change color when you have 100% global conversion for one type to another is why a lot of skill mods don’t change the color of the skill. Way too much work for little payoff, specially if you are gonna do to every single one.
I know you said that. So, what’s the feedback here? People have been asking for every conversion skill mod to change the color of the skill for a while now. If you want more to do this, better have a convincing argument for the devs.
Ok, damn examples, lol. I actually never used some items/skills, so I might’ve just thrown shitty examples, but yeah, at least people get what I mean.
Now you actually made me wanna make that AAR character I theorycrafted months ago and upgraded today…
It looks cool? I mean it should be convincing enough. It’s actually the only argument I have, I don’t mind if this never happens. You know, make the kid happy, right? I might be over 20 but deep in my heart I am still 8 and I want cool, colorful stuff.
I hate both of you, you just made my thread disappear. I go eat lemons.
Maybe, after the FG release euphoria will have settled down and if devs have some spare time on their hands (though unlikely), we could have a poll on the forum and have the top three skills voted by the community have a cosmetic change on a full conversion. That would spice things up a bit.
