I’ve only played on normal difficulty, so I’m wondering what people would think of this build idea I had.
The main damage focus is from mortar traps. This would be greatly supplemented by Olexra’s flash freeze (OFF) for two reasons. One, the OFF will stop the target from moving so that the mortar traps can hit them. Two, OFF gives a huge fire resistance drop. These skills seem like they were made for each other, yet I haven’t seen any sorcerer builds that focus on these as the core damage components. If I c
Once I saw those two synergies, I was like, “What survivability skills can I use that would make it endgame viable?”. Vindictive flame, and maiven’s sphere of protection seem like no brainers, but I’m not sure that’s enough actual damage mitigation. I then saw that with Conversion, you can get up to 60% energy absorption. With the Revenant, Viper and Wraith constellations, that can get your energy absorption up to 100%. If your energy absorption is 100%, does that mean you don’t take any damage from enemy spells? If so, that seems kind of broken.
Olexra will not work on most/all bosses since they cant be frozen and you cant reduce their resistances then …
Energy absorb means that if enemy uses x energy for its skill that damages you, and you have y% energy absorb, you gain x * y / 100 energy back.
I have such a build, it works well, once frozen all mobs just die when the first mortar rounds land.
The freeze doesn’t work on bosses though.
and if it cant be frozen, it wont get its resistances reduced either.
effectively, one will have a good trash clearer but a bad boss killer compared to say a purifier.
Trash dies from one mortar hit anyway
olexra and blade trap is a secondary support skill designed exclusively for fast crowd control and room cleaner. they don’t do damage/ debuff on enemies that are immune to freeze/immobilization, and those enemies includes most champions and bosses. so i suggest op look for another primary damage skill to make a viable build for defeating champions and bosses. in mid and late game, if you have strong primary dps skill and aoe dps skill, common mobs can be defeated easily even without olexra and blade trap anyway. the mortar trap is a nice support dps skill btw.
Ummmm. You’re underestimating mortar here. It’s demos strongest skill as of now.
its been a long time since i’ve played mortar build. seems like the patches buff many demo skills.
they should rename the skill to MOAR-trap 
I wish there was a transmuter for mortar trap to turn it into a grenade spamming sentry instead…
