Grim Dawn has been here for quite some time, and I’m glad we’re getting a new expansion soon!
Maybe this is the time to simplify some old quests. Especially the ones where you might lose the chance to complete it, for silly things like losing an item that should be in your inventory. But for any reason we can drop, sell, etc. There are some quests that end up becoming very complicated, due to a lack of knowledge of what should be done, and when we search on a forum, it can no longer be completed on a character that we like.
Examples: Dhalia’s quest, and/or Lokkar’s.
Well, I enjoyed it for a long time. But the experience changes over time. The game is still fantastic for me, but I get annoyed by the difficulties, for example, in understanding why Flameond Bleu doesn’t spawn. The many hours trying to search on forums to find out what could have gone wrong… make me give up on the quest.
But youre right too, i dont think there’s a true or false answer, it was a suggestion.
as long as you’re on PC you can salvage any of those quests with GDstash item spawn, Xbox users however are a bit more… screwed
Ideally sadhina’s memento couldn’t be sold or dropped yes, likewise with the dravis notes. - and it has been suggested couple times before too
(Stormheart/chillheart isn’t really an issue as it can just be shared via stash and isn’t consumed, and salt bag you can just create a fresh lvl 1 to get for free)
and/but like Medea mentions, reason they aren’t normal quests/treated as directly obvious is because they are secret quests and meant to be bit more obscure and indirect in solving like a puzzle/riddle, it’s part of their intended fun.
(and having Sadhina’s memento be a quest item or the same quest log entries+markers/normal quest treatment would then sorta detract from the puzzle/making things more obvious)
He can also be killed by other monsters, I believe? My impression is that he always spawns (if you are at that stage of the quest), but he is very fragile and can die in a flash.
It seems like a good trick, since the monster’s health is low. But still, despite carrying the items in the inventory, it’s like something is missing, it doesn’t spawn in any of the three places.
---- Idk, at this point in the game, if I had to have done the quest before finishing Forgotten Realms and giving the amulet to Dalia there in Korvan City.
that’s unrelated, you just need myth stormheart, sadhina’s memento and black heart, and some of those aren’t even necessary for the trigger/to have in inventory since it just checks if you cleared the prior steps
if he’s not spawning first thing to do should be check if the portal is already open
so i just did an actual check, you need absolutely nothing for him to spawn
took a char that hasn’t even unlocked AoM dlc/quest yet/didn’t initiate Creed at Fort Ikon, just opening the malmouth rift so i could travel there, aaand Flamond still spawned/crawled out of his hole
granted i’ve handled him a fair few times, including showing it’s possible on big aura builds , but i think he’s okay “simple” enough to not accidentally kill. The massive factor tho is being aware of both his 3 diff spawn points, and then what to do/not do.
Don’t go too close to his spawns if you are not “ready”, it’s a proximity trigger but it still triggers a couple meters from you.
Clear the paths leading up to the spawns, without triggering him, if you’re worried about procs or passive effects triggering, or the need to stand and fight where le Bleu might get caught in crossfire or aoe/distance procs. - you can still clear by aggro pulling monsters to you that might seem too close to his spawn for comfort to run in and clear directly.
Dismiss, dismiss, dismiss pets, never do this step with pets out. (for pet users this might then emphasize clearing the paths first) - while it’s “technically” doable with pets out, all it takes is one slip of the pet command button and Flamond turns to Cordon Bleu instead, so simpler to just dismiss them.
He has a decently long leash, so you can run a fair bit ahead of him and he will auto follow you. This is then handy if you have aura of censure or other large reach dmg auras. - in most cases you can trigger him, seem him start running, and you can just run to the shrine and he should run there on his own.
