[Idea] Were Golemborns forgotten in a round of buffs to legendary boots?

Golemborn Greaves are a pair of one of the oldest and most iconic legendary boots in the game. However, it seems like last few patches a lot of boots were updated with secondary or third resist or some kind of cc-resist or DA/OA. And Golemborns that weren’t really popular to begin with were for some reason left out in that round of buffs.

It feels like some kind of additional stat/resist would make them more competitive with other more popular boots.

Suggestions

I think for a unique thematic flavour some of the following could be added to Golemborns:

  • flat armor (around 150-200) + Petrify retaliation (because Golem, duh)
  • %Life + Life resist reduction (unique and rare stat, can’t make Golem’s life shorter, because he is not alive in the first place)
  • Armor absorption! (credit for the idea goes to @Firozo) Because Golems don’t have holes in their stone armor.

Or something more generic can be added

  • any cc-res (slow and/or stun/freeze)
  • any secondary res
  • OA or DA (should be in the poll together with cc-res or secondary res)
    • Boots are already good, don’t add anything
    • Yes, but add something unique/thematic
    • Yes, but actually add just some cc-res or secondary res

EDIT: Could not add “or some OA/DA” to the third option - one about cc-res or secondary res, but it should be there. @medea_fleecestealer Can you add it please?

1 case: if you add some cc-res. Still would be useless boots, due to only have 1 res and no craft bonus, and still will be trashy.
2 case: if adding armor or life reduction.Adding this stats not be so usefull for casters(that is have issues with pierce res) (and main for what this topic created) in the same time it makes almost immortal all tanks , so no.

My suggestion just add DA and some res(aether will be very good),and with this changes this boots would be on par with other legendaries boots

They do get used sometimes for builds desperate for pierce resist that can’t afford to use legplates of valor, but something else other than that niche would be nice. A small amount of a second resist would help.

There is a staggering amount of 1 pair of purple boots with +% bleed dmg. This is a good opportunity to double(!) the count.

I say give it +25% stun res and +60-70% bleed dmg.

Sorry, mad, but no. Polls can only be changed within 5 minutes of their creation on this platform.

The only problem I see is that they are going to compete with Final March boots that bring quadruple metric tonn of value for Bleeding builds because phys and and da that converts into huge cunning investments (on top of insane resists, phys res and slow res)

np, I think my EDIT kind of clarifies that third option includes OA/DA as an option.

Another thematic option would be to put reduced bleed/poison duration on the proc, since rocks don’t bleed.

Or… just make it a Pet item since pets are kind of limited to just Fiendflesh or Deathwalker image

(And make it spawn a Pet Golem :stuck_out_tongue:)

I used them once but in reality they have pretty limited utility, since no DA or OA and no CC. Other items in that slot usually gives you more.

My recommendation is to add DA bonus. Maybe not much, something like 40 or so it’s not gonna make them OP, only slightly more useful.

Wouldn’t accomplish much, since +flat only affects the gear piece it’s on. So you’d notice 10-15% more armor…12% of the time. Yippee.

Golemborns also have all the DA they need between Temper and Shadow Dance. +Menhir’s could stand to be +Field Command, and I wouldn’t mind also seeing +Resilience.

I wouldn’t mind if the proc became a ‘permanent’ health shield that went on CD when depleted, as with other boots, that had the unique effects of additional armor and retaliation that it has now. Maybe it could absorb 4000 Phys/Pierce, what with the presence of the additional armor?

Edit: then again, absorption comes before armor, so nevermind. I suppose that concept is somewhat moot.

Wouldn´t help, wouldn´t be enough.

Windshear Greaves are really good, you can craft decent boots and often you just use boots with better resistances and/or proccs.

I don’t play bleed. What would be enough to make them competitive but not too good for bleed?

simple, that’s not good example(as base item) to rework this boots for bleed completely

@Rhylthar @banana_peel Better buff this boots on bleed instead https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/9085( they stay completely useless on trickster since when bloodrager get nb support)

Hard to say.

When I take a look at the boots my builds use (greens not counting) possible changes could be (not all, only some) :

  • add DA/OA
  • add % Bleeding
  • add Elemental Resistance/Aether Resistance
  • add Slow/Stun Resistance
  • change/add skill modifier for Shaman
  • change procc: Add Bleeding Damage (instead Internal Trauma) and/or damage shield

This sounds random to me. Elaborate? Right now the stats are minimal and all generic (except +skills and trauma retal). What’s bad about it’s base for bleed?

edit: agreed on blue boots. maybe +95 cunning and +15% movspeed? kinda dexterity theme

As I said:
They don´t help and other boots are just better. Resistances, OA/DA, Skill Modifiers.

They have competition from:

  • Mythical Windshear Greaves
  • Mythical Boneshatter Treads
  • Mythical Stormtitan Treads
  • Mythical Final March

Even Runeguard/Grey Magi often seem the better option.

@Shoot2033:
Sure, would be an option. Needs Poison/Elemental/Aether/Chaos Resistance instead of Vitality and perhaps Physical Resistance.

You could just give these a proportionately higher level of phys resist than the other defensive boots. A 8-10% roll would make them an OK greedy pick if you have other resists covered.

I’ve tried these boots on a few commando s&b build iterations. Most of the time, what I miss the most is OA. The boots are really strong on the defensive side, but as stated previously, there are better alternatives. IMO both OA and additional resists would make them way more appealing, at least on the builds I’ve tested.

I was answering to Shoot about bad base. Your reply, I understood.
95 cunning and 15% movspeed is for the blue ones he linked.
