I think from the point of view of balance. We can’t have a mastery that gives RR to everything. And given how poorly Bleeding is supported within OK mastery, I think it’s the first candidate for removal if Crate is to add Chaos or/and Pierce RR.
The way Bleeding is supported on OK is almost the same as having Bleeding RR on Thermite Mines. It’s a shame Soldier can’t have -%RR in its mastery.
Why the strong fixation in bleed?
Play other damage type. You will be able to use different devo, different class, different item, different playstyle.
All the current bleeding support in OK is terrible TBH.
On to pierce. I feel like pierce don’t need anymore RR. It needs stronger itemization and devo more.
Dude, i was just making this vitality aegis of menhir build with the new set and thought to my self: it will be much better if aegis would have been converted to full chaos but there is no chaos RR on OK. I totally agree with you!! @mad_lee
And I don´t get it, Bleeding support is poor?
Ascension + Clarity of Purpose is as good support as for a lot of other damages. Presence of Virtue helps with Energy Problems and gives Bleeding Damage. Smite is a usable WPS (would be nicer with a skill modifier to Bleeding), Guardians give RR, Divine Mandate is great if you can use it, because of massive crit.
What is lacking are items. Crimson Wakes would be good if the skill modifier won´t go to EoR but e g. Smite or Righteous Fervor. Sandreaver Braces are very good; flat Bleeding, skill modifier plus Bleeding source. Lacerator Girdle; +1 to Oathkeeper and it would be very good.
And, if we talk about new bleeding set…well, Oathkeeper could be one of the masteries which supported by it. Soldier, Shaman and Nightblade have Bloodrager´s.
Spikenik’s suggestion would be the ideal solution imo, but Idk if they will make the bleed-> chaos conversion happen considering bleed never gets converted ever. This case being RR only and not dmg, I hope they make it work after all. #cratepls
I’m currently leveling a build which would be utterly destroyed if the bleed rr was removed from Celestial Presence, so no thanks
and basically, i think it’s too late for such drastic changes which can hurt builds a lot. just look at the mayhem when they removed acid to pierce conversion from treacherous belt.
if Crate wants to add Chaos rr to Dreeg transmute, or pierce to the normal version, no problem. but changing damage type is a bad idea imo.
I am kinda lazy to read through the entire thread. But here are my thoughts -
Pierce -
Long live @mad_lee for bringing up the damage type with the least amount of diversity in playstyle. I’ve been bitching about Pierce Caster playstyle for long time. I think Aegis and EoR should be given more Pierce Support. The latter already has one item iirc but needs more.
Pierce RR would certainly go a long way to help with Pierce diversity.
Vitality -
Thematically it fits the OK cause of Solael’s obsession with sucking on the vitality of mortals. But Vitality imo has plenty of support in other masteries. I don’t mind Vitality Support in this mastery but if it’s to be implemented then I’d prefer it’d be done via skill mods. I like the OK relic that supports Decay playstyle similarly we could add some skill mods that help out Vitality OK. Innate Vitality support doesn’t seem to be needed imo.
Vitality supports a variety of playstyles as stated by Lee. The only thing it lacked was Decay support which has seen improvements over the past two expansions.
Chaos -
While I disagree on the assessment that it’s a joke or meme damage type I do think that this mastery should have innate Chaos Support instead of Vitality. Chaos is not exactly bad with diversity in playstyle, at the expense of sounding controversial I still think Chaos has more diversity than Pierce but a lot of it is enabled using item modifiers. OK supporting this damage type would be great.
Bleeding -
While I do agree that we don’t have any skill templates besides maybe Aegis and Righteous Fever where we can add Bleed support. I personally don’t want to see it removed as currently the hybrid playstyle of Bleed\Pierce only has innate support in Nightblade. So OK supporting the same would be great to me.
So what I suggest is -
Replace Bleed RR to Pierce RR. But also add %Bleed Damage to Aegis. Then replace all instance’s of IT damage with Bleeding Damage on Vire’s Might. The missing Bleed RR can be added through some skill mod.
I feel like this is a fair trade-off, in place of RR we get two additional sources of Bleed Damage. The Pierce RR would not only support hybrid playstyle for those interested but also support Pierce as a whole.
Replace all instances of Vitality support in the mastery with Chaos. Relegate Vitality to item based support. I know it sounds extreme but last I checked in AoM vitality was in a good spot save for maybe Ranged Vitality and Decay Support.
@Chthon melee DW vitality is in terrible shape, but sadly Oathkeeper doesn’t really improve situation, despite having auto attack replacer,RR,one WPS and attack speed. So it’s not correct class to solve the problems.
For chaos, nice idea.Chaos already have some gear, why not add RR.
Back in AoM I played around with Vitality DW Fleshwarped Strikes and Vitality Scourge Strike. While not top tier I wouldn’t call them terrible. Vitality Fire Strike on the other hand was terrible, not sure if they ever buffed that skill mod. I am too lazy to check that now
My only disapoinment in OK is no supporting for pets, I mean pet based pets of cause. Would be very nice to see some love for Bysmiel followers here, like transmute for Guards making them bet based or a new set with this option.
Well obviously not one single skill mod granting the missing RR. I know Tectonic Shift has Bleed, I am saying to replace the IT component of Vire’s Might entirely with Bleed
i think the thread just demonstrate why people will be upset no matter what Crate choose to do (not implying they’ll actually do something, it’s for the sake of discussion).
I admit i fail to understand why giving pierce rr would be better than bleed rr as OK has no pierce (nor chaos) skills. I don’t think putting the reduction on items would be a solution because it usually narrow the number of builds which have access to the rr.
i think this topic is a good demonstration than adding another layer to a skill (like Crate did with bleed rr and actually nobody complained about that) can be cool, but changing a rr or conversion from one damage type to another will always upset people
Transmute bleeding to chaos?I like the solution and will keep all people happy, you still got Vitality Opressor, but you can build real chaos Paladin,Shieldbreaker or Sentinel
