I’ve found the best hunting spot in the world.
It produces exactly zero resources.
This hunting area has 2 green chevrons for animal traps, and I needed pelts, so I set my hunter’s work area here.
After 2 years of she producing zero pelts and zero food, I followed her around and found out what went wrong:
These woods are, in fact, so good for hunting, that the animal traps catch small game every couple of seconds. So the hunter is perpetually collecting animals from the traps. When she finishes collecting the 3rd trap, the 4th one has already replenished and has more game to collect, and so on.
The hunter gets stuck in an infinite loop of collecting animals. I’ve seen her carry 35 small animals in her inventory from a single trip to these woods.
Unfortunately however, after a while, she gets hungry. So she drops all 35 small animals on the ground and travels back to town to grab food.
When she comes back, she goes directly to the animal traps which are all full again. By the time she comes back, the 35 small animals on the ground have despawned. She continues her loop, collects 35 more, drops them on the ground, they disappear. Repeat until the end of the year. Best hunting spot in the world. Zero resources produced. ![]()
Funny stuff, but I’m not sure how to fix this. Maybe less carry capacity for small carcasses? But that seems like an unnecessary nerf to hunters which might screw the player over when longer distances are involved. I’ve never seen a deer hunter drop a carcass in the middle of the road. But they don’t stay outdoors as long as this hunter superwoman.
Edit: It’s not just hunger. Some of my other hunters suffer from the same bug and they decide to go idle (“praying”, “gardening”, “relaxing”, etc) in the middle of food gathering from traps, and they always drop the game on the floor, and it despawns later.
The save game called “hunter bug wtf” has the camera on top of the hunter JUST as the infinite loop happens:
