Alright so I see a lot of people suggesting this skill for high level build’s even had someone suggest it on steam when I asked for defensive skills for a paladin what I want to know is why? It doesn’t SEEM like it’d be that effective at higher level’s in keeping you safe reason I’m asking is my Paladin (sword and shield, lvl 62 or 63) while it kills enemies fast has some issues lately staying alive so looking for good skills to help with that.
It provides flat damage absorption which applies last in the order of defense.
This is noteworthy because it means all of your other defenses will lower damage taken down to low enough amounts that Inquisitor Seal can negate them completely. For this reason, it shines best at nullifying tons of chip damage that add up from DoTs or crowds of non-Boss enemies.
It’s great against weak hits and DoTs, but against high powered single targets it’s no longer as effective. It still helps against those but not much.
Doesnt flat damage absorption also apply multiple times against a single hit with multiple damage types? Or am i mistaken on that front? in that case single hits with multiple damage types should theoretically get cut by a lot, no?
No. It does, however, affect multiple projectiles. So, if something shoots a beam of 5 projectile, each dealing 1000 (mixed or not) damage, and Seal reduces damage by 200, you effectively get hit for 800 instead of 1000 per projectile (5000 -> 4000 damage).
Ah thanks.
Guess i remembered wrongly then. I assume that if an attack does DOT + flat damage the flat damage occurs instantly (gets absorbed once) while the DOT is applied as a buff (which get continuously absorbed each tick)? I suspect my confusion probably came from mixing it as “multiple damage types gets absorbed multiple times” from there.
