Hi all, after playing this game for well over a year, first forum post ^^.
So I was inspired by dual decree/spark of ultos builds to start looking into what one could do using dual warpfires to convert all cold to fire. (pure intellectual exercise at this point, I only own a single badly rolled Warpfire)
Which brings me to my question: when using Overload, would the converted Frostburn->Burn damage stack with the skill’s normal application of Burn ?
If so, it could be interesting to see what a DW “Burnbreaker” build could achieve with the flat Burn damage available from Arcanist, devotions, and converted Nightblade skills.
I’m already pretty certain that such a build would have good trash clear by virtue of a 100% Fire OFF+Absolute Zero.
I also see where one could opt to go into either dw with WPS, Shadow Strike, or transmuted CT+TSS with maxed Inferno and Frozen Core.
Any thoughts on the topic ? Anybody tried something similar ?
I have such a fire/aether Arcanist using two Warpfire:
- 22/12 Olexra’s Flash Freeze, press the button and all mobs but bosses die.
- Maxed out Shadow Strike and Nightfall on the left click for a ton or %weapon damage and burn damage. While SS is on cooldown, AQC and Execution do their job.
- 100% chaos damage converted to aether, chaos strike for mobility.
- Note that you could switch chaos strike and shadow strike, depending on if you want fire or aether on your left click. SS hits more targets though.
So such a character is definitely viable and can reach level 85 without problem. Now I have no clue about Overload and I have been wondering the same thing. I’m afraid the strongest burn gets applied.

Same concern here. If that’s the case then the converted frostburn is useless as it has weaker ticks than the burn unless it gets a big crit. Overload still looks like a decent investment though.
On that note, does your build use Elemental Awakening ? I learned a few days ago that it gives a fair amount of flat frostburn damage and that was one of the things that made me think about this.
To be honest I had little doubt that such a build could finish the main game, my worry is more that going simple Cold/Frostburn without conversion could be strictly better as we all know how strong coldbreakers are right now.
