I think you are conflating my few things here, namely my work in the top20 project and my views on game balance. Since we have released that top20 any kind of feedback we do is often met with this weird “You want everything to be top20” kind of animosity almost. Like if me or @banana_peel are feedbacking how ranged gameplay is behind because one of the core game mechanics (monster’s behaviour) it is perceived as us trying to make all of the ranged builds to be on the top20 level. Even defending this new transmuter I am being accused of wanting to destroy DD builds or make Chaos AAR somehow top20 worthy.
When in reality my (and other top20 participants) feedback is rarely based on this idea that everything should be at the top level or it’s bad. Top20 is a project we made, but as players we play and test dozens upon dozens of builds of different power levels. And yes, it’s hard to believe for some, but personally I don’t think that everything should be top20 or close to it, as much as this idea is being attributed to me.
In fact, I do like doing double damage builds myself, for example, min-maxed dual damage Dagallon and Invoker PRM recently. Even did Vitality Bleeding Willdblood Trickster. Hell, this thing
Is a build I did almost 6 (!) years ago.
So yeah, most of the times my feedback (I would say almost always) is not about making stuff top20 or not top20 at all, and honestly, all those labels (top20 gang, “offensive” gang, “crucible speedrunners”) are getting a bit old.
