Is Grim Dawn a solo/friends-only experience?

Hey all,

Relatively new to the game (played Early Access, but finally started the game back up last weekend). I forget where, but I remember reading someone saying GD was a solo experience. I presumed it was b/c the community is small, but when I view these forums, the community seems to be quite active.

However, I checked online games tonight (8:30pm PST on a Saturday…should be plenty of players, right?) and there were 0. Yes, zero. I had filtered everything to all/on, but still nothing.

So I’m just curious if I should expect to play this solo (besides w/ my RL friend who rarely plays) or is there some way to get into groups? …are groups even worth it? For faster leveling or anything?

Thanks

Did you refresh the game list ? I am seeing 231 games right now…

Are you on GOG ? Steam and GOG cannot play together and Steam has most of the userbase…

only a sudden Diablo 4 release can empty the servers out dry:rolleyes:

In the left upper corner of the empty server list you find a button with 2 arrows for building the server list. That should give you plenty of games to join, if you are on Steam (assuming you are, as you played GD during EA).

GD is designed as a mostly solo/single player game, but it does have a multiplayer option so yes, you should be able to find someone to play with. No closed servers though so be careful who you play with.

to all asking: I’m on Steam. Not that it matters now, b/c…

I swear I’m not dumb, but I did not refresh the first time i checked lol. I guess I just figured entering the lobby or search page would auto-refresh the games. Thanks!
