Is Grim Dawn Still DRM Free? (inc. multiplayer)

Hi there,

Will Grim Dawn final release be completely DRM free? (without Steam and including multiplayer)

I purchased Grim Dawn when it was first announced because it was explicitly stated as being DRM free. I understand that the devs are currently using Steam as a distribution method but will the final release also use Steam?

Currently you can’t however it says “When the game is released, you’ll find it available to download right here!” on the humble store link you get when purchasing the game. But it hasn’t changed with the release of the game. I don’t know if it’s because they forgot about it or there is some other reason why it’s not up yet.

DRM-Free copy - Part of this is setting up distribution, which requires a little work but should be much less complicated than the virtual goods since we’re just sending out one thing to all backers. We do however want to make sure we wrap up any significant hotfixes so we don’t package up a DRM-free build that immediate needs to be updated… which would be a problem since there is no service, like Steam, that you can just connect to for automatic updates. In the future we’ll probably just have to distribute updates as full builds or set up some sort of patcher. I think we can have this out by the end of next week (March 4th), if not sooner.
