Is it just my gear bad? Or the build? Or me?

Hello. So I am new to Grim Dawn. Still on.my first playthrough. I browsed a few builds and the one I went with here http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47324

Well it worked really well for a while. But now I am level 30 and I am having a much harder time progressing.
And I die alot more. I am playing on veteran difficulty and want to always play the hardest mode possible.

I wonder is there a specific gear set I should go with at level 30? And also should i use all my components on my current gear? Or save components for later?

Any advice on this build…and what gear and components I should be using?

Lalalalala sorry bit forum made me do this to post link

This is a vid of the gear and stats I have currently.

Darryl I’m in no way an expert, but the rule of thumb is not to worry following builds until you hit waaayyyy higher levels, as you can re-spec your main skills later.

Concentrate on building a viable character that plays to class strengths, stash any cool loot you can’t use right now, and start re-speccing at higher levels depending on the build and your level of confidence.

For this character, I’d concentrate on your Demolitionist levels; it’s an easy class to build up. Go for a ranged build with Blackwater Cocktails and Stun Jacks for the next few levels, perhaps, or Flashbang for de-buffs.

Run and gun until level 50 or so, choosing items that play to your ability strengths, then take stock.

Good luck, is a cool and addictive game with a very deep ‘n’ steep learning curve!

99% of all the builds you’re going to look at are focused on end-game character level, with end-game gear, and end-game content. Building towards one of them is fine, but the majority of your early levels (at least up to level 70) will not be working at the build guide’s example.

Early leveling should be covered, but basically should involve what to do for those first few levels, when to re-spec, what to re-spec to, etc. With some options too to be able to deviate a little for preference.

You don’t have to expect to run the “build” you’re following under level 70+. And I’m making that number up, but basically, that’s the point where you should get to just leveling the normal quest line up through Elite with self-found stuff and revered-rep-gear and common crafting gear. After that, you really start to need specific gear. But most of these builds all revolve around level 85. I can’t think of a single build that is meant to take you to level 50 or 70 or something and then tells you what to do from there. But really, these build guides are all about what to do with your level 85 character as if the bulk of your time is going to be spent at level 85 during its creation (its not). It’ll take you 3~4 days perhaps of casual plate through the quest line to hit level 70. After that, it’s a grind to 85 based on how fast you progress through quests in Ultimate and your killing speed, while not ending up dead often and losing XP.

Based on where you are now:

You seem to have a bunch of spread out Demolitionst skills. And a hair in Shaman. That’s good, because you can re-spec to basically specialize yourself for right now, level 30, to do something with Demolitionist.

You could do Stunjacks & Blackwater Cocktail at this point with Vindictive Flame and be set for all of Veteran Normal. Then re-adjust based on level and gear from there as you progress.

Very best,

Well i’m not sure but i think this build is pretty gear dependant and you gonna have tough time without any of those end game items.
