Is The Immolation worth the risk?

I had just gotten enough rep with the Black Legion for their Spellbreaker to politely ask me to enter the Immolation for a revenge quest. Well, not wanting to bite off more than I could chew, I didn’t agree to it, and went off to scout it. I believe it’s that pure Aether green roadway at Deadman’s Gulch, right?

Well, I made a mad dash, gulped a health potion and DIDN’T make it to the door. I’m not even sure if I was close. Unlike The Conflagration, the Immolation doesn’t appear to have any alternate paths, or places to stop and heal up.

How do you get through the Aether road then? Is it even worth trying? Is there some super fabulous reward there that I just can’t live without? Or should I stick with the more do-able bounties, at least collecting 5000 XP instead of sacrificing 8000+ on what might be a fool’s errand? I wrote off the lost 8000 XP, rather than try again.

Advice?

About halfway, there is a clear area you can stop and regain your health. Also there is a potion that increases your speed. this will also helps getting through.
once through the door there will be more clear areas you can stand in. Good luck and have fun out there.

I popped the Royal Jelly things, and made sure I had significant, if not capped, Ather Res. Between that and a ToM, I get through fine.

After killing Cronley always take the second option with “destroy the Aethererial Crystal and keep some of it for yourself” or smthing like that. That gets you a free Aether Cluster which gives 75%dmg abs for 8 secs. You can also farm it from Aether Crystals if you missed that free one.

Bind it on a free button before you make the run across the aether field. Press it halfway and pop a potion.

Any skill with %damage absorption or flat damage absorption, or healing will help there somewhat. As mentioned, aether clusters are basically a free ride. Aether resistance will do nothing, tho. About halfway through there is a little passage to the north, can be used as a resting point.

The reward is nothing much special, basically some Legion rep + minor reward like iron or some rare components, don’t remember right now. But you will get to see a part of game you’ll miss otherwise, and get an achievement if you interested in that stuff.

If either of your classes are Soldier, you can put some points into Menhir’s Will. I have 9 points in the skill and it trivializes it.

yes

look again, there is one before the door which you can / have to use to heal up

I suggest getting high movement speed and run from the area with the manticores. Also, get a circuit breaker.

I pretty much only go there to the Black Legion quest. Mainly because the quest gives high exp.

If you’re part Arcanist, Mirror makes it easy. You just pop Mirror about halfway through and a potion 2 seconds into Mirror. Occultist with a decently ranked BoD will also get you there.

As for the zone itself, the rewards are decent. A full clear will net you ~20 aether crystals/shards/clusters, 2 dynamite, a couple nice chests, and whatever the moss mob drops. Everything else in there is a pushover so long as you don’t stand in the fire.
