I’m trying to find a guide to a Dracarris Necromancer (Defiler) build for pets. I believe it is quite strong from what I have tested/built and would like to know if someone has posted a guide on it already.
I’m a strong believer in the Demolition mastery and that’s what I use over Occultist. I’ve been told by over a half dozen experienced grim dawn players that it is really bad because it has nothing to support it.
Is this true? or are they just saying this verses Mogdrogen-Ravager and for solo Crucible?
Another question if anyone can answer?
Does all the pets retaliate against a boss if they are dealt damage by the bosses aoe after they kill a unit with Draccaris’s Hellspawn? I have my pets Retaliation set to over 1000% and Drac does 1250-500 base. Does each pet then deal that to the boss?
Most people don’t really enjoy playing pets. While I’m the same, I’ve seen a few mentions that Defiler is quite good as a pet class. No idea if it uses Dracarris or not though.
The reason that you are don’t see any Defiler based pet-builds are quite simple - all experienced pet-builder’s are trying to make something viable with this class, thay all find that this is a not so-good choise for pet build, they dropped this idea.
There are a few Defiler Grimtools in the Dracarris thread, but I don’t see the concept working really well:
There’s no Physical to Fire conversion, so your damage types are completely un-synergistic.
Gearing requires a stupid amount of precise Greens to get both Flame Touched and Raise Skeletons to their maximum overcap.
Fire and Vitality are damage types that don’t go well together, so good luck getting the appropriate RR.
Besides, you’re going through all this effort only to get around 57 Fire Damage. Heck, you can get more Cold damage for pet builds when you include Deathchill Relic + the Cold Pet items. Skeletons are much better served going with their natural Vitality damage.
Granted, dual-wielding Gargabol guns gets you +2 to Necro / Demo skills along with -30% Fire / Vitality RR to Ill Omen, but I don’t really see a Defiler pet build working.
Any ideas what those mentions are? I’ve looked everywhere on the forums including Chthon’s build compendium and general searches for anything. I’ve also looked on reddit and google search for anything or videos. I guess DaShiv’s guid seems to be the max for people wanting to role pets as few other builds even come close. This is sad because I haven’t seen a lot of experimenting in pet builds. My guess is people just assume its a waste of time or others have already tried and failed.
I thought the same thing. But, now that im testing it in ultimate im not so sure I feel as bad about it. Just hard to optimise. I’m not too focused on overcapping skellies or flametouched although they are a primary piece.
I love your idea with duel-wielding Corruption of Gargabol for vit and fire (the two however don’t stack as they are from the same weapon I believe) and would actually be quite damageing. But, i would lose almost 20% crit damage for pets not too mention the effect that Draccaris has about retaliation as i have my retaliation damage increased by over 1000% thats 1k of 1250 and 500 when things die. Its my way of dealing kind of AoE and I haven’t tested it with AoE against bosses.
Skill modifiers - such as the -15% Fire + Vitality RR on Ill Omen - do indeed stack if you’re dual-wielding the weapon. If they were not skill modifiers but separate procs, you would be right in that they wouldn’t stack, but skill modifiers on the same skill do stack.
You would be missing out on pet Crit damage and pet OA, but hopefully you’d have enough from Master of Death + devotions in that you could afford to give that up. The skill points really add up if you’re trying to cap different skills.
hey thanks for the clarification! Wow that does seem fun. Maybe ill have to try that. I wish the Diviner’s set did not take an off hand. That off hand slot for the set is really a bummer in both build range and level of damage.
