so I like playing around with builds and leveling characters and with a game like this to get the gear you need you need to spend hours farming which I am perfectly fine with.
My question is whether there is a best build for farming? Something easy to play but still dynamic enough to keep the endless hours interesting? Maybe a build that can use random legendaries as they drop while looking for best in slot type pieces? Or is this a silly question and it just comes down to what you enjoy playing most?
health regen build tank commando using fire damage as damage using pistol+ shield or rifle demolitionist 1st/soldier 2nd.
1h melee and shield soldier health regen and high resist.
2hand range weapon soldier. Piercing build
I recommend building a character for when expansion comes out. these 3 are the best for farming and has skills you can use when lvl 100 becomes max lvl.
Edit: you can reset stats when expansion comes out
Eh… I’d have to disagree with anything shield, they don’t trend toward being “dynamic”. Generally they face tank everything, don’t die… And eventually they kill things.
Tell that to my cadence commando … he “eventually” does damage and kills some mobs and bosses on the way (last time I checked at least)
Or to Drizzto’s Shield Casters (Poison, Cold and Bleed) or BWC Commando with Siegebreaker that can solo gladiator crucible (and anything in vanilla) by killing a lot of things…
To OP, Poison Witch Hunter with Dreeg Evil Eye is a good bet to have a first farming character, not very gear dependant, very good clear speed and kill times because of poison dots.
You can check this build by TomodaK : Dreeg’s Champion (as for many builds, the displayed gear is BiS and is not mandatory at all to make the build work)
And if you don’t care about “killing things because you use a shield”, there is the Drizzto’s build : DEE Witchblade
best build for farming? actually it all boils down to what you enjoy the most. Take the good suggestion from the kind gentlemen above…
For a good farming character though I recommend that for maximum enjoyment you should make a char that actually looks and acts like a farmer… using the farmstead liberator that looks like a farming tool is a good start…
you can set up one… probably using blade arc and do a warder as a combination…
you can pretend to be harvesting your enemies with cruel intent likening them to ripe grain ready for the taking … . Enjoy!
Not silly, but yes, you definitely could play what you find attractive. Look people are telling dual wield is hard for crucible (its not meta), they are right. But I like dual wield over shield and I found a build suiting to that.
If youre just playing with random drops without putting much thoughts into it, thats okay for many builds in the beginning, but once you will hit the wall. And this wall will hurt, most likely in form of a boss like shar zhul or alkamos.
Sorry my language may have been imprecise. I am not looking to play with random legendaries but to be able to best utilise them until I can find the best gear for my build. Also a farming character would also be a character played to equip other builds. I will have specific ideas for builds or follow some of the superb builds on these forums but to get to those superb builds you need the gear and to get the gear you have to farm. I hope that clears up any confusion?
A build that actually looks like a farmer? You sir are a genius and made me laugh. Liberator seems superb but I picked up an insane green from Alkamos with spectral strike on it that I hope to be able to do a build around that will reliably get through ultimate. All the optional bosses don’t really interest me at the moment because I know they are super hard even for players with high skill level and excellent builds. Just worried about main game content, being able to get to the end of ultimate and being able to farm efficiently and enjoy the process.
Almost got my self made nightblade/occ to the end of elite. Though I worry about his efficacy in ultimate and may have to put him on the back burner even though he is satisfying to play.
Well you have to differ between The Crucible Challenger, Gladiator and Vanilla farm. Most builds are able to farm Challenger even in the beginning with alternative gear while Gladiator demands a lot more defense and perfection. That means that you can go to Challenger with a high dps character, still clearing and be as efficient as playing Gladiator mode on a way more defense build character. Look around what pleases you crucible dps build, thats the way I started and went from 0 setpiece for my build to full in no time. I also equipped every other character I have with what I found. Lastly I was playing Gladiator for a while too.
You wont need that Shield Spec Witchblade to farm vanilla. Also its NOT as effective there.
Let`s say the build of your dreams would be Spellbreaker. You need to farm Alkamos. The fastest and most efficient way you can. Thats not a tanky Gladiator build.
You’ll be left with points you don’t know where to put when expanssion comes out max lvl 100. Especially dual weild commando. No new skills in expansion only new characters.
Farming in challenger or gladiator crucible with a reliable party is fine in every aspect. Faster than solo and it’s more relax.
You don’t have to get every good gear nor build. At first you may want someone to carry the party.
Find which mastery/class suits you and you’re enjoy with it like PrinceXavieR said. You won’t tired of farming because it’s like you’re playing for fun more than for loots.
I enjoy playing my sorcerer and spellbreaker in crucible a lot. I play for fun, loot is secondary. Many hours passed, have plenty of legendary more than I can kept. but still playing it until I have to choose legendary to throw away.
