Is there a reason to level past 94?

Saw this discussion on Reddit, and I thought it made some interesting points.

Now aside from the foggy math behind OA and DA, there is also the moving goalposts of increased enemy life and damage per level.

Maybe back when the highest ilevel was 75 the extra points were worth filling out your tree for, but by the time you reach 94 those last six points most likely won’t allow you to keep up with the corresponding enemy buffs.

I guess it also depends on how much stronger enemies get at higher levels too, but if their increases are relatively linear, it doesn’t seem worth it.

I don’t really get your point.

If you intend to keep playing on ultimate/crucible, you can’t avoid gaining xp and leveling up.

If you’re not playing the char anymore after 94, then what you wrote (or anything else btw) is doesn’t matter.

If you intend to play on lower difficulties after 94 to avoid leveling up (for a time) then you will be rolfstomping everything and get bored soon anyway i guess.

TLDR: You can’t stop leveling a char at 94 unless you comletely stop playing that char but you can do that on any level anyway.

unless you’re playing hardcore, of course you can avoid levelling. Before you get to a point where you risk levelling up, just go let yourself die to enemies a bunch of times until your xp has fallen once more.

It’s not like there’s any cost associated with dying besides lost time & XP, unless you’re playing HC, so all this requires is for you to keep tabs on your progressing XP bar and invest the time to run back from town to somewhere you can quickly get yourself killed a bunch of times.

If anything else, for the sake of “completion-ism”. Majority of player would love to cap their characters, and GD is one of the few ARPGs that allow you do so without the long grind.

6 skill and 6 stat points can make difference.

Do not listen to reddit, they tend to ruin great games(look at PoE now…)

The reason is: For Glory!!!

Well, the objective of playing games like Grim Dawn, is to fully maximize your characters and try to push them to the limit of your builds.

As for the question about whether there is a reason to level past level 94 or not… that sounds like a question that you should ask yourself and then decide it if you want to push your characters to 100 or not.

Nobody can answer this quest, but yourself, nor state how you should play your game.

Umm, that’s 6 extra skill points. Of course it is worth it.

Oh, i see.

But if people actually doing this is far beyond me nonetheless.

Bit off topic, but does the loot pool change between 94 and 100? I mean, do some lower level legendaries drop out of the pool at some point? I would level everything to 100 just to avoid yet another level 50 drop.

It’s not so much legendaries as the potential rolls for MI affixes changing as you’re getting well out of the range of lower level affixes.

Here’s an idea: every level over 94 could increase your devotion cap by 2, and grant you up to 2 devotion points based on shrines restored beyond the usual cap.

If you can’t compensate for the increase in enemy level with 12 extra devotion points, you’d probably need to rethink your build anyway.

6 skill and 6 atribute points?

To clarify, yes you do get stuff per level past 94. The real question is: Do those six skill points and attribute points compensate for the enemy’s increased life and damage?

Kinda an open-ended question I guess, because it depends on how much those stats are increased (I don’t know), and whether your build can properly utilize those points.

This. Reddit loves to whinge about games until they’re unplayable to all but about 12 people, 11 of which don’t actually play the damn game.

And you didn’t think it absurdly stupid?

I know this is an old thread but I want to know how enemies scale on lv94-100 too to know if the 6 last levels are worth it:cool:

100 sounds much cooler than 94 plus you get a steam achievement too…:stuck_out_tongue:

It depends on your gear. I didn’t had an issue with Level 94 and I do not have an issue with Level 100. However, some of them hit way harder than with level 94.

I assume it’s because I just don’t have any luck with gear and the game expects you to wear newer gear because of the huge armour increase from classic to expansion.

If you do not have any new gear, you’re going to lack armor and because of that, everything just hits way harder with every new level.
