Hi everyone! This’ll be my first post, hope I’m placing this on the correct section.
I’ve been playing Grim Dawn a lot lately and I’m having so much fun killing monsters on my Trickster to the point where I just lose track of time including my level Lol. What happened is I kept running around Act II killing stuff and just exiting the game and then going back in . Right now I’m currently Lvl.41 at veteran difficulty doing the Act II Quest “We Need Food”
So here’s whats bugging me, am I leveling too much? Any dowsides to leveling too much? At this rate I’ll probably reach Elite difficulty at lv55-59ish. What I’m doing right now is trying my best not to kill as much monsters along the way to my quest markers so I “even out” with the storyline. I just can’t help jumping in the center of a mob and let Whirling Death (lvl8) do it’s thing. It just feels so satisfying watching Harpies get blown away
I’m currently level 35 on my newest character, on my way to Act 4. You probably could be going a little bit faster, act progression-wise, but it’s not really that big of a deal since you’ll want to be level 50 by elite anyways.
Overleveling is a self-limiting process, since once you outlevel the areas you’re playing you can no longer get level-appropriate gear. (i.e. a level 50 farming a level 30 area will only get level 30ish equipment). So in order to progress your character’s equipment you’re going to have to play harder content anyway.
I would formerly have been concerned about rare ingredients like Manticore Eyes since those won’t drop in areas you’ve significantly outlevelled, but now that you can get them from salvaging and troves that’s less of an issue.
Well, if you can’t help but to jump into a pack and destroy them the only real thing that will do is make it take longer to get to Elite. As dekaron states, you do stop getting exp at a point and on veteran the monsters only scale so high. You start getting much better drops in elite…
Actually reaching lv 55-59 while not impossible, it probably won’t get too much higher than that. It also won’t hurt anything. It is generally a good idea to be at least lv 50 though before completing the last quest as the reward is a legendary item and I believe if you’re under lv 50, then you may end up with only an epic item…
If you simply go through, and completely clear every area you run into 1 time as you level up, you should be about level 55 when you finish the game on Veteran. You’ll likely finish Elite about around level 75 doing the same. There is no issues with leveling at that pace from my experience.
I personally like to stick with a fairly consistent routine for all characters, which allows me to compare all my characters as they level.
People have reported receiving blue items from that quest. Maybe they fixed that… hopefully they did… I think most were closer to 45-46 than 48… So maybe it is if you are too far below 50…but hopefully they just fixed it…
