I chose to fight him in ultimate and it seems that I have no chance of winning, what to do now? I can’t advance without beating him it seems.
He’s unexpectedly hard with his Nightblade base and Living Shadows. It’s like Fabius on steroids, I’ve beaten Fabius with the same character and with Ulgrim it’s completely another story.:furious:
For me it was fine to kill him with conjurer pet building on ultimate, but if you having trouble, i suggest you go online and ask somebody to help you
Does he give any loot or achievement ?
I’d hate to ask this. But does he die…err… permanently?
Ulgrim being strong makes sense, it’s been insinuated that he might be actually an ascendant. So yeah, even being able to kill him is a big deal
You only beat some sense into him, he doesn’t die.
Ah that’s nice, would’ve been pretty stupid to have a possessed human kill an ascendant after-all

Well… one of Creed’s journals does mention that perhaps the taken is also on the path to ascendancy

anyway this path to ascendancy can be the trigger for the next expac and hopefully grand dad ulgrim will finally show us his true powers when we fight him at Mount Olympus:cool:

Also, there is a hidden achievement for beating some sense into him. It took a few tries but I managed to whittle his life down on Ultimate and I got an achievement for it.

I thought you have to beat him to advance quest? I cycled through all dialogue and he does nothing so i resorted to attack him.
Dont think he is as insane as Grava but heck has alot of Hp.
It’s Me, Your Friend = Peaceful

Does the “Its me Your friend” option gets locked out if you choose the wrong dialogue? first time i encounter him i jokely said im emperor then he realised im lieing so i only had option to brawl him.
Yes. Just like most of the dialogue options in this game (Skinner Family for example) if you choose the wrong dialogue choices, it will lock you in that choice. Some people have reported if you walk away from certain encounters before choosing the final option, it resets the entire line of dialogue. I’ve never tried this myself, so if you don’t get the right one the first time, run away with the dialogue box open and when it disappears, go talk to him again.
You can back off and he’ll reset, even if you make him hostile.
It’s meant to be a challenge (and optional).
Yeah Zantai is right. In the conversation i did mentioned that i was the Emperor.
Is the Achievement only for Ultimate?
I did both so here we go.
First, you’re not locked in your choices, it’s actually the contrary. When you start talking bullshit like “I’m the emperor” or “I’m your mother”, you get the option to end the dialogue with a fight. If you don’t want to, you can cycle through answers and he’ll finally acknowledge you.
Second, both achievements can be done in any difficulties. I did the brawl on normal and got it (and it’s seriously more manageable with a char already 85+).
Third, if you fight and, probably, die, when you come back you can speak with him again and redo the dialogues.
No. I got the friendly option in normal and the beatdown in Ultimate.
