Iskandra's Elemental Balance

I find this skill a bit out of place in Arcanist mastery. All its bonuses only work for weapon skills (%weapon damage) apart from the energy regen, so only applicable for Callidor’s Tempest. Energy damage, %Phys to elemental conversion, energy leech all of them can’t be used for Arcanist using say, PRM or AAR. Correct me please if I’m wrong on that but simple flat energy regen in this skill would be more useful than ‘energy leech’ hardly useble fot this mastery which lacks %weapon damage skills

It would be more useful for low weapon damage builds yes. However, Arcanist further down the tree already gets -% skill energy usage and flat energy which is also tremendously helpful for energy hungry builds.

I think people would rather see masteries that have a hard time dealing with energy hungry skills get some attention first.

Is great for builds focused on elemental damage and weapons. I use it on my luminari magehunter and it’s solid : Conversion + flat dmg. A good thing in gd is that masteries are flexible and should work well in diferent building options.

ok but try to see it from another perspective - a player just starts playing GD, chooses Arcanist as his / her first mastery only to find out that one of the very first skills in that mastery is almost completely unusable. That is what was one of my friend’s experience

Gd is based on the combination of 2 masteries. You will always find something useless for your current build. Selecting what is good for a build is what makes building interesting. Please consider that this way you have more options and it’s a good thing. Otherwise one could pick arcanist just for casters builds.

No other masteries have starting skills so much hardly usable for them though. But it is ok I understand your point

I think it’s less of an issue of these stats effecting skills and more of a case of new players not knowing that these stats only apply to weapons.

If your friend had read the Game Guide section on flat damage vs percent damage, they would know the flat Elemental damage on IEE requires weapon damage to apply for instance.

I thought there was a mention in there somewhere about isolated sources of Life Steal and Energy Leech requiring weapon damage too but I can’t find it now or it doesn’t exist and needs to be added .

Yes but no word in Game Guard for energy leech thing. Or i just couldn’t find it. My friend was like ‘Oh! Nice I cast my Panetti’s Missiles and then get energy leeched back!’ I said 'No :frowning: you can’t ’ . And even I didn’t understand that at once. I had to do some research lol

It’s not almost completely unusable. Half the skill is good (the energy portion). I think it was originally intended for battlemages who use discord. Sadly, that concept turned out to be a flop so the damage portion doesn’t really get much use now aside from mage hunters and other fringe builds. Imo, skill is still in a good place right now with elemental balance and the other arcanist support skills being so good, something has to take the fall and IEE isn’t even much of a fodder skill (Veterancy lul).

If i remember correctly there is a legendary pistol that adds %weapon dmg to panetti, so your friend can energy leech with panetti and elemental exchange after all

Half?? Lets’ count

flat elemental damage - requires %weapon skill
energy leech - requires %weapon skill
%phys to element conversion - requires %weapon skill
energy regen % - usable

that is 25% of the skill not 50%

Not necessarily. This would still convert flat Physical procs/skills like Meteor Shower, Mortar Trap or Wind Devil. Now, how often it would be be useful is another question entirely :p.

Thanks I found it - Mythical Arcanum Sigillis. But it requires lvl 94. But by then you have enough good gear for energy regen not being a problem. IEE is a starting skill for a reason to give something to boost an Arcanist . At least it is how i would see it

Ok i didn’t know that. Thanks

It’s not that skills that come before in the mastery tree are weaker than others. Also : Endgame wise , when you overlevel panetti , you will always need energy. Trust me on this one.
