How about adding some mechanics wherein we can upgrade the tier of the items aside from adding components? Let’s say by using Iron Bits to make it +1, +2, +3 and so on with upgrade difficult/chance (the higher the tier the difficulty it will be to upgrade with a chance to lose the item). Then, seeing some glow or changes on the items especially the weapons when we get it to the highest tier while increasing its stats as well. I think it would be more rewarding while we grind/farm. Adding more goals and awesomeness. :D:D:D
Sorry, but no. I specifically started playing Grim Dawn to get away from MMO tropes like upgrading gear. It’s fine the way it is now.
I don’t think I would mind the ability to let the blacksmith add a random suffix or prefix to an item that doesn’t yet have both. The drop system might go on strike though.
This is something that I would like instead of the current random system.
Instead (or in addition to) of crafting a random item (for 2 scrap with a possibility it is a green and a 1 in a million that it is a double rare) have the smith “keep” either the Prefix or Suffix of an item.
So you come up to him with 3 Items.
Item A) White Exalted Thread
Item B) Stonehide Exalted Thread of something sucky
Item C) Exalted Thread of the Flesh Hulk.
First box is the “White Item” 2nd box is the Prefix you wanna keep and third box is the Suffix you wanna keep. Place the 3 items and the system calculate a cost (Depending on the level of the White Item (so it is costing more to make end-game item than item for a level 25 character) and A for a Magic Suffix B for a Rare Suffix Y for the combination and Z for double Rare.
You still need to work for it so you get all you need but at least those Stonehide Exalted Thread and those Exalted Thread of the Flesh Hulk can actually go from being half bad to being top tier item.
