It would be perfect to be able to see how close to max attributes on items
In endgame it can play significant role, where every 2 percents of resistances under max may kill you
Also, instead of dragging loot to the stash and comparing it with what you have using your tired eyes you cloud tell just on the glance if this items worth keeping
It can be done by adding a percent next to the attribute like this
+67% Cold Damage (90%) indicating quality of this attribute
Also overall quality of item can be moved to the item name
This should be possible to Enabled/Disable this through the options
There is no reason to compare stats before you find top gear, but if you want - the solution is painful, you had to either lifeleech your eyes comaring items to one another, or go to grimtools and do the same exploiting alt-tab
