Junk/(*) Button

I’m not sure if this has been posted before or not, but has there been any discussion of being able to mark items in a certain way? I really feel like it could help reduce clutter with regard to inventory–especially when you’re in the midst of combat. Stopping to comb over every single item, repeatedly, seems counterintuitive to the intended gameplay. In addition, I usually log in to different characters on occasion, and I have no idea why I have what I have in my inventory. I’m sorry if this is a repost. I think this is the one thing that has bothered me since launch. Still love the game though <3

Thanks!

There is an in game loot filter. Is this what you mean?

Not quite, but in the same sense, think of it as an inventory filter; meaning, you can mark it to represent each item in a meaningful way. Picking items up, even if you don’t intend to use them, is useful for selling for iron bits. However, I tend to keep items I might want to swap out, for specific purposes, and they get lost in the clutter. It would be useful to have a way to mark items in inventory for specific purposes, like selling or saving. Does that make sense?

curious if you “generally” keep trash items for swap, or are actually referring to MI/epic/legend swaps? - since seem like if it’s the latter they should be easy to keep track of vs the crap that gets sold
*not saying it’s an argument against a junk button, i loved TB’s reaction to it in Kingdoms of Amalur and how he emphatically insisted all loot games incorporate it going forward
just that depending on what your actual use case might be, it’s possible it’s more selfimposed or have partial solutions in 1.2

Well, in way i can see it as a potential (profiting) QoL Feature, considering that some people want to keep stuff for other builds/characters (potentially) or later. Plus (in my experience) people tend to check Inventory occasionally while not being at the Shop (on the Field and such) so if you can there already mark stuff you want to keep (favorite/locking) and/or which you want to sell (junk), esp. if there is a button / option to sell all junk, it would make it more faster & comfortable, due it would help for not looking twice through the stuff. (Plus it would help also for the visibility in the Inventory).

I would find that definitely cool as a QoL Feature.

feel like something got missed

Whether it be a new or seasoned player, a way to mark items would prove useful. If you’re leveling, you’re going to find items that may or may not be better for your build. It doesn’t hurt to save them, but they do get lost when you sort. I’ve found that I end up selling stuff just because I don’t feel like looking through them again.

If you have a build, and you have A+ gear, cool. Maybe you found something you might be able to work into your build. Then you go on a run, and you press “sort.” Where did it go? Now you’re going through each individual item–all over again.

Edit: You have to remember that new people do not understand the stat/skill structure in this game. No, it’s not PoE, but it’s still complex enough, considering the damage types and conversions, that a lot of people are going to hang on to gear longer than they should. Why should they have to fight with the inventory too?

i feel like you missed 2 parts
one being the more specific question part
then the last part that depending on it there might already be help in 1.2

and that ofc it’s still not an argument against a junk button
“i’m not against this guys so please stop acting like i am”

No, I do not generally keep trash items for swap. I’m referring more to new players as well as leveling. An item might be questionable, but you just don’t know quite yet. You don’t want to get rid of it, but then you sort the inventory. Where did it go?

could pose the same devils advocate question “what if the new player accidentally marks the item as junk and gets sold”

again not an argument against a junk button, just pointing out it might not necessarily be a universal solution to all such perceived issues “potentially”
and while 1.2 doesn’t give us a junk button, we finally have some icons to atleast help us distinguish (potential) keepers, so could be some slight help there, (but might still not apply to all perceived swap items potentially)

Sure, but is there not a buy-back tab lol?

Maybe they could make it an option in the settings to appease all parties?

Also, icons do not help in determining what stats are useful nor useless. Yes, they do help in that they show that an item has the potential to be far better than what you have. If anything, that argues for a junk button. You farm a mob, and let’s say you loot 16 of the same item. Would it not be useful to mark the ones you don’t want?

why would you sell an item you farm for image

i might use all these some day ! image
