Hey guys, I just reached Ultimate with my first character, I’m a level 74 Death Knight, I gotta say that Elite was not very enjoyable, I died alot because for some reason I can’t find gear with Physical/trauma + resists, so right now, all of my resists are below 0 ranging from 0 to -30, I can’t survive poison and bleed unless I have trash mobs next to me. What should I do?
Could you post a link to your character using Grimtools?
In general I think elite should easily be doable if you use components/augments but like I said if you could just upload your character I am sure people would be able to help you more efficiently pointing out specifics that could/should be changed
A simple way for you to deal more damage is to focus on the resistance reduction skills. And another way of reducing damage towards you is to focus on war cry.
If you are in Ultimate with those resistances… good luck! You also need higher armor rating.
Defense is offence in Grim Dawn, you don’t kill stuff if you are dead.
Go back to elite and find one of these helms: https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/1309
get about 5 of those and go with the ones that gives more resistances than the native pierce resist.
Your rings and amulet are all crap, you can shop better ones.
Don’t worry so much about getting % damage bonuses everywhere. New players often seem to get sucked into that mindset but even for top-tier, BiS, Gladiator Crucible-destroying builds you usually need to sacrifice % damage on at least one slot for resists or something else important. I have a ton of gear stashed to help level new characters but until they can equip endgame stuff they usually only have % damage bonuses from maybe half their item slots.
If you had 80% res vs all damage types (instead of ~0%) you’d effectively have 50k hp instead of 10k. And your life steal and other sources of healing would be five times as effective.
not all gear will have damage on them. you need gear pieces that focus on defensive stats (especially resists as the game is balanced around the notion that you have them at the max or close to it.
I switched to this build, it feels clunky but it’s pretty resilient, I also worked on my resists alot by buying upgrades components from faction quartermasters.
