Kickstarter Update #2

Just posted Update #2 to Kickstarter, check it out if you haven’t already! 50% OHHH YEEAAAHHH!1!! (Randy Savage voice)

50% in 4 days
funding shouldn’t be a problem

Fantasy, maybe, but still really nice to look at :

(trending towards 1,000,000$)

I’m hoping that if most people have their payday at the end of the month, that we’ll see a significant boost in a couple weeks.

Hope we can reached the projected trend or even higher.

Guys get out there!! :furious:

I can see it now…
$5k -> $2.5k -> $1.25k -> $625 -> $313 -> $157 -> $79 -> $40 -> $20 -> $10 -> $5 -> $2.5 -> $1.25 -> 625¢ -> -> 313¢ -> 157¢ -> 79¢ -> 40¢ -> 20¢ -> 10¢ -> 5¢ -> 2.5¢ -> 1.25¢ -> 0.625¢ -> 0.313¢ -> 0.157¢ -> 0.079¢ -> 0.04¢ -> 0.02¢ -> 0.01¢ -> 0.005¢ -> 0.0025¢ (tired by this point)

Don’t let this Grim Dawn happen so quick!
(Hopefully someone laughed :frowning: it was a pretty Grim joke.)

450K sounds likely and probably where it’s going to end unless people go nuts towards the end. The trending towards things takes the two first days into the calculation apparently and I think that’s give unreliable results.

More items is always great.

We just hit 152.000$.

I liked this update especially the exploring part.
The most recent example for me was Darksiders. It felt pretty similar to Zelda regarding progress (in dungeon x you find an item that lets you open a path that you saw like 2 hours ago). It then was incredibly disappointing that you would have explored those areas anyway because it was in the mainquest. You couldnt really find hidden areas. Titan Quest was lacking there, too.
I greatly miss that feel from Final Fantasy or Chrono Trigger or even in Sacred 1 where you just went like “I wonder whats in the corner of the minimap” and found a hidden island, unrelated to the mainquest.
Finding hidden places like this feels amazing but recently there weren’t any games that offered that (except Risen to some degree).

So yeah, looking forward to exploring the last corner Cairn.

I wrote this in the Kickstarter comments, but it bears repeating here. Everything Arthur Bruno outlined in Update #2 is music to my ears, it’s like he reached into my head, pulled out exactly what I wanted to read, and wrote it in the update. It’s obvious I’m not the only one either, just check Harlequin’s post above mine. It seems a lot of people miss the old school design philosophies that are sadly becoming more scarce these days in games as they become increasingly built around a bunch of straight lines going from setpiece to setpiece. I find great joy in exploring a cavern tucked far away from the beaten path and trudging through it to find a wondrous treasure, a fiendish trap, a horrific beast that I never should have disturbed, or nothing but a bunch of cobwebs.

I’m waiting for Update#3 when Arthur announces that the $50 tier now also gets a Will-O’-The-Wisp pet and the $85 tier gets a flashier one.

End of first week should be great for another video and maybe a picture for new goals like Harebrained and Stoic did.
I don’t know why backers like those pictures, but they give some push to pledges.
Maybe it’s some kind of game: “Get the 500K milestone!” , “Get 10.000 backers!” and “Get 1.000 comments!”. Strange but effective

if that happens, I would certainly up my pledge again in an instant!

I do think they could possibly do something like that. For instance the D3 collectors I 100% wanted to get wings but for 100 bucks? Not really worth it.

The 50 dollar pledge so far does get a lot. However the best way is to get more backers but if we can some how tap into the backers who pledged say just 18 bucks. And got them to move up to 50 or even 35 that would in a sense just be like getting a whole bunch of backers.

I’m sure they could work something out in the pet area. Where the 85 dollar gets a cooler pet where 50 dollar gets the wisp etc or vis versa?

Done, bought the one i wanted.
And about the 8k$ one… i hope you guys pay for the lunch at least… that it isn’t just the “right” to have lunch with you, but a full lunch!

I’ve been a supporter of GD since it’s very very very very early stages, way before u even thought of “selling” the game. but i just never registered :o

How do you know that’s not exactly what did happen?

Not sure if this suggestion has been made elsewhere already.

I supported Wasteland 2 on Kickstarter, originally at the base pledge of $15. However, towards the end of their project they realised that if they added an ADDITIONAL GAME KEY to the second pledge category ($35) they may get a significant amount of pledge upgrades from the 1st to 2nd.

As it stands they did, including my own. They saw a fairly large jump after this change was made which helped almost push them to the 3 mil mark.

I think the 2nd key for a friend who either is too lazy to pledge or perhaps doesn’t have the means to make amazon purchases is a good tactic to bump peoples support.

hi , i’m a new guy ( from the ‘backer’ wave)
when do you want to make the next move (update)?
we’re going almost 4000 backers but i can’t stop being jealous on shadowrunners and the other projects that got overfed.
are you waiting for 100%?
forgive my impatience

Those who do not pledge must be offered up as a sacrifice to the Gods of Crate, that they might be “encouraged” to make an offering. evil grin

yes the alter has been cleaned, I managed to find a few unwilling victims to do the cleaning, so it’s ready to be used once more, so give the word High Priestess and the cult of Crate will follow
